You bought this new right? So if you have the Class IV hitch then you have the tow package. (there is a big difference between the class III and class IV hitches in the way they are mounted and the way they look. The class IV will also have the 7-pin wiring connector whereas an aftermarket will only have a 4 pin connector)

Are you trying to say that you have an aftermarket class III hitch and no tranny cooler or larger alternator? I can't imagine that you would have the class IV hitch and not have the tranny cooler or larger alternator. IF that is the case take your window sticker back down to the dealer and show them that it was on the window sticker that the tow package was there. Have them show you the tranny cooler and larger alternator if you're not satisfied.

I have a "factory" installed hitch, which is a class 3. I had the dealer run the vin, and they printed all factory installed options. They said they would make it right. The window sticker clearly says Towing package, and the truck does not have the cooler, and other goodies.

Just need to make an an appointment. This just kinda sucks...I wish I did a bit more research before I bought it. I bought it used and the sticker said towing package...I knew w/o the package It had a lower towing capacity but did not check or know exactly what was included in the towing package.

I'll tell you what happened since it's used. Some sales guy looked and saw the hitch and didn't take the time to ask if it was a dealer installed option or not (which a class III would be) when the vehicle was traded in. The sales team then entered it into the computer as "towing package" since they have no clue what they're looking at. I'm super surprised though that the VIN check came back with the towing package because VIN only reflects the origional factory installations and not dealer installed options. That would be a HUGE faux paux on the part of the factory. I wonder if his VIN check was more an internal VIN check on his inventory and not a VIN check as you would have gotten from CarFacts. Might be worth checking CarFacts to see what is says as well.

Yeah you hit it on the head.......the vin check came back with "tow hitch" as a factory installed option. They briefly tried to tell me I did have the "towing Package", but i reminded them that tow hitch does not equal towing package.

I was told they would make it right so lets see how that goes.
