So you can air down as low as you want and not blow a bead.

^^^^ That guy beat me to it.

With beadlocks you can run low PSI without popping the bead on the tire. Really low pressures especially in sand, snow, and rocks give good traction.

Is the lip taller or something? Why arent normal rims designed that way? There has to be a trade off of some sort. Also are these legal to drive down the highway?

Some are some aren't legal, don't ask me why.. You'd think it would be safer if anything. They lock the bead on the inside

Normal rims just have a lip that the tire pushes against with pressure to hold it in place. Beadlocks sandwich the edge of the tire so even if there is minimal pressure it holds in place. Thats what all the bolts are on beadlocks, they sandwich the tire between the ring and the rim.

Beadlocks can't be spin balanced like normal rims so you pretty much have to rely on beads of some kind to balance them. Changing tires takes ahwile but can be done at home. Some are DOT approved, others aren't

So it actually grabs the bead rather than just providing a lip for the tire pressure to push on..... that right?

so if this company doesn't do the inner lip then... its pretty useless right?

Yup like @zscott said. Also look at the stahn bead lock, they lock both the inner and outter bead and you can do the conversion yourself.

My thoughts exactly.. I've been down to 7psi in snow and didn't break a bead, not worth it to me

 That is close to the cost of a set of goo quality beadlocks. I always like the hutchinson rock monsters
that @MrGrimm has on his rig.

My understanding is no, but I haven't ever tried or talked to anyone that has so I am not sure.
