Good morning superstar. What can you tell me about your Cobra 75wxst? I don't know jack about cb's but think it's a important mod for going out in remote locations. Could you also tell a brother what all would need to be purchased along with the radio?

What the heck. Cobra 75 WXST

Small hide away CB Radio. The radio itself is a small, silver box that is meant to be hidden away, such as mounting under the dash, a seat, or a center console. All of the controls for the radio are on the Mic. This also means a generic CB Mic won't work with it as they don't have the CB Controls.

You will also need an antenna cable of appropriate length, and an antenna, and an antenna mount. Antenna type and mounts vary depending on where you want to install it, how long the antenna is, etc...

You will also need to "tune" the antenna. To do this you will need an SWR Meter. You can find them for ~$10-20 and the included instructions are not terrible. If you key the mic on a CB without an antenna attached, or with an antenna that is far enough out of tune, you can actually destroy your radio.

There are several threads on CB Radios in the Audio/Video section of TW.

Yes sir, I have been looking at some of those threads. Trying to glean some knowledge. Mr. Dino slayer has one of the model/brands I have been looking at, so his first hand info of it's practicality(all the buttons and bs on the mic) and model specific parts needed.

I love the swing out man. Did you design it or get measurements from somewhere? I didn't read through the thread but saw where you commented on rngr's build thread. I bought his bumper yesterday and am wanting to do a swing out as well

Sorry dude I was on vacation. I like the 75 a lot. It's small and works fine for my application which is vehicle to vehicle coms and emergency weather and trucker chatter. It was really easy to set up. You will need the CB obviously, a coax cable, an antenna mount, and an antenna. That's pretty much it. Pick out where you want to mout it and go for it. I'll try to find the write up I used.

This is where I mounted the mic....

Dude… I was just in Chattanooga for vacation and could have stopped by to visit… My bad. I designed and built the swing out myself. If you look through my thread I have a bunch of pictures that may help you. Let me know if you need anything specifically. I got that in the hinge from relentless fabrication.

No problem. I had to fire the contractor that was doing some remodel stuff for me. So now what little time I had is going to finishing remodel for the foreseeable future. It's just another thing on my truck to do list. Thanks for the info.

Just missed ya! Haha I'm just 30mins from chatt. Next time buddy. I'll take a better look when the time comes closer for me and my buddy to get building. I'm leaving the country for a couple months soon so I'm just gathering ideas to research while I'm gone. I definitely like your design though.

And the next mod will be MGM front bumper cover. Followed up by a super awesome TRD off-road suspension.

Haha nah dude. I'm keeping this truck forever. My buddy was wanting to build a bumper just like mine and I was kind of over the swing out so I offered that if he would get me back to stock I would hook him up with my bumper. He agreed. I want to get a Yakima holdup rack for the back of my truck because I do a lot of bike racing and such so it's going to work out.

Did you have problems with the swing out or the bike rack route just a better option for you?

Nah no problems at all. Just in and out of the back of my truck a bunch so the spare tire kind of gets in the way. Plus it blocks my backup camera (I know I could relocate it but just don't feel like it). I currently put my bikes on the roof rack which has some inherent downfalls (trees, over hangs, mpg, drive thus, parking garages, bugs, front wheel removal, etc). Was going to do a standard off-road bumper but have come to realize that I am more of an adventure traveler than a hardcore off-roader so a stock rear bumper will serve me fine and they are cheaper. The full size 255/85r16 spare will go back under the truck.
