Soo close! it’ll look great though

Fill those gaps with epoxy resin like the TikTokers do!

I’ve no idea if that stuff is quality enough for cutting board surfaces.

I think it's helpful to share failures too. They're often the greatest learning experiences and it helps keep things in perspective too. :)

Heads up folks! I'm going to be offering this board for discount today on Facebook, but you guys get first dibs. This is a 16"x16" purpleheart and curly maple chessboard that was cut too short on one side so there is a visible line where I attempted to re-add material to size it correctly (bottom edge in photo). I've sold two smaller boards discount as well for $70 each, but even though this one is significantly larger, I'll make the same offer because the error is more visible. If you're interested, send me a message.

Curious, could you not just lop that bottom row off with the table saw and remake the row with scraps? I'm not exactly following what happened to to the board to make the boo-boo but that's the first thing that came to my mind as a possible solution to correct the design feature. It's not a flaw, its a feature. Getting the finish to match would be difficult, you may be able to run it through a planer if you have a wide enough planer. I forget where I heard this quote and I'm sure that I'm misquoting but it goes like this: "even the best fine craftsmen make mistakes, what separates the Journeyman from the Master is how they approach fixing their mistakes."

I thought about it. I am out of both materials right now which would require another trip to the mill, but I think I decided that the things that could go wrong in the steps to remake the end and possibly mess up the piece more along with the time to do all those steps outweighed the potential to fix. :notsure:

Time is a bit of a factor for me at the moment. Trying to get inventory for retail and craft shows while I do other custom requests.

Plunge router is not my forte. But between the regular router and table saw, I can give it something. I can round the edges or angle them. I can add lines to face area. My brother made a frame with some lines which turned out kinda cool. I show you a photo when I get home so you know what I mean.

This looks great. If you mimic something like this, I think this works.
