Don't those big ol' sanders require 220V? That might be a challenge...

They do.... The rental place should provide a pigtail for the dryer. Unplug dryer insert sander, hold on and have fun!

Looks like you might have to go with a darker stain to compensate for the slight difference with the new wood. I actually like a darker stain for floors, so that wouldn't be a problem for me... :anonymous:

So my dad asked me if I have to sand it smoother or if I can leave it a little rougher so it's not slippery and more rustic.

I at least want to clean up the spots, but I'm not sure if there's any reason other than preference to go super smooth. :notsure:

That's up to you really. Function is key. You’ll want to take a buffer to it either way so your stain and sealer will lay nicely on it. With 20 grit first pass it's going to be very rough plus you probably shaved a lot of the life off those boards. I'd say try it and see what happens. Only you will know how much you sanded it. Put a satin finish on it too, that'll hide any imperfections.

You can use a wood scraper to cleanup the spots if you'd like... Just sand them by hand before you use the buffer so there are no splinters.
