Those are great questions!

No mat. The orange/reddish color is the wall color which it may or may not stay on long term. The alternative is a medium gray color wall at the moment.

 

Darker mat lighter frame

 

Hmmm. I like the idea of contrasting, my concern is adding a mat will add more size and thickness and its already on gator board which is probably .25" thick.

It occurred to me just now. Why have I not been putting the logo on the square for the queen on the chessboard???

 

i'll show you a nice contrast of a drawing my sister did for me years ago. Dark mat and dark frame..... I love it. It's on a lighter wall too which makes it even better.... brb

 

Good cause its frame time now. I got the shaping, branding and template making done.

 

@Gen1TacoLady - hard to tell but the mat is dark purple, almost felt like, with an ebony frame
