Black 2003 Tacoma DBL Cab off road
I am new here, and this is a late addition for an old thread. I tracked the part down as 08586-04820, but it wasn't easy to find. I have a 2003 DBL cab 4WD TRD off road with the RS3200 in it (I took out the kick plate driver's side to verify). I found a pdf for the RS3200 installation to better understand the installation of the GBS (page 14): http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/miscinfo/taco2002rs3200installation.pdf

What confused me is the other part, about which I am still not certain how it applies -- its even listed as the accessory package on the pdf. I confirmed the "20" with Toyota via a local dealer who contacted corporate and looked at the parts photos on the dealer computer. That's why I (rather the dealer and I) contacted corporate re the right part for GBS. The second part appeared to be an additional harness, however the pdf showed the wiring for the GBS plug in as integrated to the RS3200 V3 harness.

I'm still waiting for the part to arrive, and thus have not installed it yet. I also haven't done the "free alarm" mod, as I wanted to do it all at once. The link to the description of the mod that was hosted on CustomTaco is now broken. Can anyone post a picture, or point to one, of the elusive, single, white wire under the steering wheel? I am hoping I can locate it myself, but I one of those who likes to know what I'm looking for before I pull anything!

    Thanks!

I wish I had found this thread sooner. Tried to order the part through my parts dept. and it’s discontinued. :(

So I managed to track down a glass breakage sensor. I installed it tonight and went to do the systems check from the installation instructions, and the status LED never lights up. Anyone ever ran into this? I double checked my connector for the glass breakage sensor and it’s secure. Did I forget something?

I just have the flashing red indicator light panel that goes into the lower panel near your shifter. It plugs into the RS3200 harness that’s tapped under the column and extends down to the shifter area.

Is it one plug or two I know some have two plugs but I think that for the cars if it’s just the one plug wich I think and if that’s all I need for mine GBS to work, is yours for sell???

Fyi…. I have an 03 tacoma prerunner that had the keyless entry installed at factory but never got any key fobs. So i got one that had the right fcc id and got that working. As for the alarm i disconnected that white w/ blk stripe single wire and found the plug with the 4 wires the glass break sensor plugs into and simply wired a 3v white led with a red reflector and drilled a hole in one of the blank covers on the console. You wire it to the bottom two wires closer to the release clip on the plug. And i took an old “electret” mic from a pc mic that i didnt use and wired it to the other two wires on the plug (blk and white wires) and mounted it on the back of that same plate with the led i put on it.. had to turn up that pot inside the rs3200 main brain box and it works just like it would with a 200$ part.. the led i also had to put a small resistor in series because it gets 6v for the first 30 seconds till the alarm sets.. then blinks with the 3.5v like normal.. the mic is a little coin cell battery looking thing and needed to superglue it on a piece of carpet to dampen vibrations as wind would set off the alarm. But you can use any color led youd like as long as u have the right resistor to accommodate the voltages they will be subjected to,.

DIY! I plan on doing this too, but wiring it to a used OEM Toyota Security switch I got off of eBay for $15 that has two 2 pin plugs that I'll have to cut off and connect to the wires going into the 4 pin plug somehow. Did you cut off the 4 pin plug and then connect the wires, or did you splice them behind the plug?

Yea i just cut the 4 pin plug that is used for the glass break doohickey you got in the picture.. literally all the circuit needs is an led, which no resistor is needed as the rs3200 is already expecting an led there anyway and as soon as you unhook that single white wire with black stripe and hook an led into that gbs circuit the alarm will start working as it should.. the mic portion of it for the actual glass break sensor part of the alarm is just a typical electret mic hooked into the other two wires on the plug

Thanks for the info and wiring diagram. Sounds like I can just cut off the 4 pin plug and use butt connectors to connect each wire to it's matching colored wire coming from the GBS. Hopefully it works! Where did you put your DIY GBS and LED?

Heres the one i made for literally nothing except some broke crap i took parts off of a long time ago to get the led and mic plus wire.. just crimped some spade connectors to the wires i cut from the plug and to the led and mic. I also wrapped the mic wires in some shrink wrap as its supposed to be “shielded” so i did that.. sorry for shitty photi though. My iphone had a prob with the camera so i put one in from an earlier iphone and they don’t play nice together.. crapple..

And the little dudes shirt says “i pooped today”.. gauge is an oil press. Gauge…. Yeep….
