^So they can anger people who had to wait weeks to order a BRZ...

Interesting. My base-level Impreza had hood struts standard. Toyota cost-cutting at work.

I meant Toyota probably pushed Subaru to cut costs on the BRZ/FR-S by removing content.

Another example is the cheap Toyota-sourced clock/ hazard button / airbag light module in the center stack. Meanwhile the Impreza gets a nice multifunction display that shows outside temps and instantaneous mpg. Keep in mind I have the lowest-end base model with no optional equipment.

either way. more cars tend to not have hood struts.

from what this car is, its toyota designed, subaru built. and in the case in the states, scion branded.

Toyota supplied the engine's direct gasoline injection system and some interior bits. The car is about 95% Subaru-designed and Subaru-built, which is not a bad thing.

its toyota designed. subaru wanted nothing to do with the car until toyota convinced them some how that it wa a good idea. after that, subaru was fully on board. and thats when they wanted a version for themself

i see complaints about them cost cutting but there goal was to get this car to around the 23k mark so that toyota and subaru can have a "cheap" front engine rear drive car again like how the 86 corolla was...well atleast they tried lol still a bad ass car IMO

The articles show the car's general layout was Toyota-planned, but all the actual design (engine, transmission, suspension, chassis, electronics) were Subaru. Again, this is not a bad thing. For example, when was the last time Toyota designed a good manual transmission?

they articles state Subaru did the developement, but toyota did the design. Everything was based around the old toyota sports cars. the toyota 2000GT and Toyota 800 were major references for the car along with the AE86(obviously).

Subaru developed the drive train, but toyota designed the car

the car was going to be built with or with out Subaru. they were just going to get the engine from Subaru until subaru wanted in on it.

also, both transmission are aisin design, not subaru. the auto is based of the lexus is-f minus 2 gears.

also, the lead designer of the Lexus LF-A came up with what the bore and the use of the DS-4 direct injection to get the engine to the power and emissions that they wanted.

to me, sounds like toyota had a helluva alot of design and development of the car than just planning it
