I didn't like it this morning when we were carrying it up the stairs and into the house

 

Looks like solid wood. What kind of wood? I'm sure it was heavy as hell.

 

14' x 4' x 3" solid reclaimed Old Growth Douglas Fir

Every motorcycle I've worked on has them and I just now discovered why I strip a lot of them. The JIS screw drivers can put much more torque on the head than an american phillips. Much easier to break screws loose without the heads jumping out.

 

I would love to find some of that reclaimed wood to make a table.

 

My boss has a huge stockpile of some of the nicest walnut I've seen. I'm trying to get my hands on it so start building things. I already have a bed frame modeled up in solidworks.

 

Have you seen the crib I've started? All air dried walnut from here in Iowa. It is simply beautiful.

I did and I agree. Looks fantastic.
This is (maybe black?) walnut from somewhere over by Boone. He has stuff that's over 18" wide by 20 feet long. All very straight cut in varying thicknesses.

 

That is really nice stuff. I have quite a bit that is 8-10" wide and about 10' long. Here in Iowa walnut is pretty cheap because it is pretty common.
