Had one a loooong time ago, it literally fell apart on me. Didn't get em another chance after that. Almost got a Quantum this time, but decided to go back to Abu. My reels typically get used A LOT. But they get lubed up and taken care of, for the most part. If this Abu doesn't make it at least 2 seasons, if not more, I'll be going a different route next time.

 

e-brake only effects the rear wheels, if you didn't have chocks another way to keep it from rolling is put it in 4wd and park and shut it off.

 

i have a abu-garcia reel, but it's a bait caster and i really like it, dad had 2 both at least 10 years old, one finally stopped working but his other one is working fine, and it's still smooth as butter.

yeah i know. we had chocks. but good to know about the 4wd, never thought about that. good thing all of the trucks and the one 4 runner in our family are all 4wd.(my truck, brothers truck, dads ’00 tundra and oldest brothers ’09 4 runner) mom has the only 2wd, and it’s a scion XB.

I'm not positive that it'll work but I'm 99% sure from my understanding of the drivetrain that it will.

 

yeah, we had it chocked, hell my brother did not think we needed jack stands. but i explained why we need to go thru the truck of using them.(they not much trouble to use)

what sucked, was the ones we had were rated at 3k(witch was find really, considering they are not supporting all the weight of the truck. probably half or so. but, they did not go tall enough, so we had to lift it up,(for the front) put the jack stand under the frame. then take wheel off lower it back down so it sat on the stand. do the other side. Then rase one side up to put the tire back on lower it agin, Move to the other side and repeat. rear was not as hard. since the axel is not as high off the ground.

 

Have you taken your truck out offroading since installing the bumper? If not, you might want to lower the bumper so that there is about a 1" gap between your bumper and the fender flares. I installed mines the same way and the frame flexes a lot while offroading. It actually broke a few mounting points on the fender flares.
