    Regarding those earlier spammings from chris4x4, Tracy and Seth.... All of their personal email addresses had been compromised recently (unrelated to TW). And whichever spammer has their personal email password had simply sent a mass email to every contact in their list, and their TW Live address happened to be in their contact list. Thus the spam showing up here.

    I have created a new random TW Live address for each of them, and they should change their email password ASAP. One of the "victims" told me how they were phished a week ago for their password by a scam email they received.

    Be careful people. An oddly worded email with strange links coming from a friend means they were possibly compromised as well.

    Before I started paying attention to some of the more technical things he posts on here I only ever thought about making curves with kerf(?) cuts the small cuts on the back side of the boards. Steaming the boards sounds just as tedious though.

    I find this easier and you can't steam bend kiln dried material and all of my lumber was kiln dried

    :thumbsup: thanks for the explanation. if it was unrelated to TW how did three random members emails all get hacked by the same person (assuming this since the messages here were almost identical) and the messages forwarded here at almost the same time? just seems odd to me...

    probably a good thing to change up your passwords every so often or create a separate email that you use only for "higher risk" activity like craigslist ads or if you have a friend/family member who forwards 14 dozen emails to you every day. i have three main emails - one for banking/shopping stuff only, one for family/friends to use, and one for craigslist ads/newsletters/random things.

    I see.
    The contractor I used to work for preferred steaming over kerf cuts and laminating because he had a custom-fabbed steam box. He'd soak the piece he was going to steam overnight, then in the morning he'd put it in the box, fill the reservoir and turn it on. Then he'd go work on something else all morning, and in the afternoon he'd take the piece out of the box and either brace it on a form or just nail it in place, depending on the job.
    I think that he used KD lumber, though, because he was just buying it from the local lumber yard. Unless Oak and Maple are typically air-dried?

    Phishing attacks are very automated. It wasn't an actual individual that stole their email passwords but an automated system. Spammers who collect compromised email accounts generally send out blasts of spam in the billions of messages per day. The 3 members on here just happened to have their email passwords phished at some point in time in the past and today their email accounts were used. Other people on their email contact lists most definitely received the same spam from them that we saw on Live. One of the members I spoke to confirmed that he mistakenly put in his email password into a fake site made to look like his account about a week ago.
