    Triad Tactical. You may also want an extra set of velcro risers ("comb height kit")…it comes with four, but I find most stocks usually require 5 or 6 to get proper cheek weld.

    I couldn't decide on 338-06 or 35 Whelen and had many sleepless nights over it. Originally, I held my breath and sent my rifle off to be blue printed and barreled in 338-06. On paper, past 400 yards the two are not even in the same league - heck, the Whelen goes subsonic at 800 meters. I based the decision on that and the availability of .338 caliber bullets. (No, I don't hunt at those distances…but why handicap myself if I don't have to?)

    A short while later I stumbled into a used 35 Whelen for a reasonable price…I bought it on the spot. Turns out the factory barrel (1/16") twist wouldn't stabilize the 250 grain partitions…so that one got sent off for blueprinting and a new barrel with 1/12" twist. :D
