very nice gun. you'll like it… 12 or 20? I have the 870 express and love it. It was my gun when I first started hunting and has a youth stock and 26" barrel on it. Its my play around gun… I use it on deer drives and when pheasant hunting or goose hunting…


word of advice… don't ever buy an 1187… worst gun Ive ever had… was out in the field one day hunting pheasant and took a shot at one and the ejector fell out and cost me 250 to repair… fixed it and now it holds 3 shells (legal limit when hunting in NJ), but will only load the second shell not the third… and another friend of mine has the 1187 and his jams when unloading/shooting it every shot time.

in NJ you get the back ground check 1 time when you get your firearms ID card which is good forever I believe… fill out a shit load of paperwork at the store and head home with the gun… they send all the paperwork to the local PD to register the gun with the PD

the 870 is a 12g walnut stock w/ 28" barrel.
want to learn to hunt and track, this will be my first hunting wep.

870 is a great choice. If you're planning to use it for deer, etc ... consider getting the rifled slug barrel. It's amazingly accurate out to about 100 yds. We've taken 3 moose with mine so far.
