Looks good man! But have you thought about adding some gussets to that spindle bracket? That's a decent amount of weight that will be shaking around back there.

Message for a future homeowner.

 

I did something similar at my old house, lol. When we bought it the carpets were trashed (and we hate carpets anyway), and while we were moving through the rooms installing laminate flooring I left messages on the subfloor. One of them says "bodies behind this wall" with an arrow. One of the rooms has two 'chalk' outlines painted on the floor, and the living room floor has directions to a find bottle of wine in a time capsule (an ammo can covered in rustoleum and sealed in Mylar) that I buried out behind the house. I even left a message in it that says "Doing flooring work sucks. Have a drink on me!" and signed it as the previous owner with the year.

Figured it'd be a fun surprise for whoever replaces the floor next.

ppssst you are suppose to take off the plates before painting.

 

Or just put new ones on after.

 

But then when you remove the plates the paint peels off with it. I've always removed plates prior to painting.

 

Same. You get a clean paint line, so even if you replace the cover you don't have to worry about it being exactly the same size as the old one or being positioned just right to keep from showing a line of old paint.
