This post appeals to me as I’m getting ready to head out to my sons birthday party and watch and listen to twenty 7-10 year olds and keep them from killing themselves on the wall at the local climbing gym.

Turned out to be a good time. The kids that were invited are his friends from scouts and karate and mostly come from outside oriented families so many of the parents were down to hang around and watch and be supportive. My son will get ahead of himself and get lost trying to follow a route but he doesn’t panic and sorts himself out fairly well.

Luckily one of the girls - she proposed to my son in kindergarten- loves climbing and she amped up the competitive drive in lots of the kids. I really hope my son takes to climbing like I did as it taught me so many valuable lessons and as I mentioned in a different thread it’s the one thing that my father gave to me when I was young that I’ll forever be grateful for.

A popular paragliding launchpoint near Durango, Colorado has been banned from use some time ago but after a careful and educational campaign to get local government to reconsider there is now a poll in the local paper to get public input and many people like us who recreate outside that are getting access stripped by knee jerk, agenda driven policy are in need of common sense regulation. Please help me and my fellow paragliding and paramotoring friends return access to an amazing place.
