    The US adopted the IBC (International Building Code) starting around 2000. My city did it in 2002 and I was appalled after reading it and comparing it to the SBC which I was accustomed to. Basically it dumbed us down to a 3rd world country, code wise. After dealing with it for 20 yrs. it basically has had no effect on high end building and only slightly on the spec. house building in my area. The quality builders are still quality builders, building quality buildings, codes are for keeping the riff-raff out!
    This is from my old 2003 IBC code book, it’s a wood basement foundation Wall on a gravel foundation :annoyed: thankfully I’ve never seen it used!

    I have. Once. It was for a dormitory type cabin at some wilderness boot camp for delinquent teens. Couldn't get concrete or any kind of large equipment to the site so everything was stick built. Everything. All lugged in by hand.
