i dont think they suck, you just tacked a ton in the middle. Ive always been told to tack the corners (correct me if im wrong)

 

Yep, tacking in the corners is the best way. If you tack in the middle you end up running your bead over it when welding it out, when tacking in the corners you can start/stop from them and you get a nice clean weld .

There are times when you need to tack in the middle. For long runs you may need a tack every 6" or whatever you feel comfortable with then run back and run a weld from tack to tack or do one skip one to keep the heat down and not warp the steel. Also if you are welding very thin material you need alot of tacks close togther to keep it under control.

Yea youre right. My uncle was guiding me and he had to go pick up his son. I got the corners tacked but then I went crazy and started doing everything, I might as well have finish welded it hahah....he was not too happy.
