    I used to work at gas stations. I find half those signs amusing. Turn off your engine? I don't recall seeing police or ambulance drivers turn off their engines.

    Think mythbusters even tried to ignite gas with a cell phone. I forget the exact results, but seems like they had to use something other than a cell phone in a sealed container with the proper gas/air mixture. Not gonna happen out in the open with a cross wind like most gas stations I go to.

    they called it and everything while it was in the container. i'm sure if there was a short in the phone and you were in a sealed contaier like that, you'd get blown up. a normal call or text/photo wouldnt do that. not to mention the distance he was away from the nozzle and the dispersion of the few fumes in the air.
