I had a car before I got my license...kinda.

My dad got a new car in '04, getting rid of his 92 civic for a corolla. from 04-05, my brother drove the civic. then he got a car, so the civic was basically mine before i even got my permit.

It had 150k miles on it when i got it and needed some body work (honda rot FTL)

the brakes eventually completely shit the bed (pretty sure it was from me driving it...i paid no attention to the "15 year old, econo car" thing...) but it was right before i went off to college so i didnt need a car. summer of 08 it when i got my taco. i paid for a good bit of it, buy my parents also pitched in some money because they'd rather have me something newer, safer, and more reliable so they didnt have to worry as much about a teenage male driving (like we're dangerous drivers or some shit..)

My parents will help me out with food shelter and clothing the majority of the time. Everything else is on me if I want it.

 

I got my taco completely free of charge (parents paid the entire thing)

no shame cuz I earned an academic scholarship, no strings attached, to a $45k/year private Jesuit school and my parents felt like rewarding me with something. They said I could get any car I wanted, and I picked the taco

I pay for gas and insurance of course.

 

That I can understand. Handmedowns! lol You have to deal with trying to sell it, junk it, or pass it down to a family member who could use it. If it still runs, pass it down. Saves everyone a bit of time and money handing it down, and it's not some $20-$30,000 vehicle.

You probably saved them the cost of the truck in interest alone with that scholarship. So if they don't have to pay college, take out loans to help YOU pay for college, or give you money for books/food/etc then why not? They probably still saved money in the long run. (Not to mention you probably had at least 2 years of driving experience under your belt right? Less accident prone, more knowledge and skills for keeping the vehicle under control....)

I hope you're kidding...if not, it doesn't phase me. I deal with people like that every day, until they have an emergency and then I'm like "f*ck what? that's what I thought..."

 

What did u get on ur SAT'? I had crappy gpa. like 3.2 but i did ok on the sat test and i think that made up for it. I got like 1720. I just never did hw in h.s thats why my gpa was low

man you all are lucky! All my friends that came to VT with me had lower GPA, worse test scores, and easier classes/less sports. They all got scholarships from the business school with their acceptance letters. I got nothing from the engineering school

24 college credits from highshool, 1330/2010 SAT

 

you took it twice? Whats it mean?

 

I think the first number was the old SAT he took, second one is the new one. (old SAT is out of 1600, new one out of 2400)

I took the new one twice, first time got like 1890, second time 2030
