    I'm new to this sort of thing, but why didn't you just use 3/16" or 1/4" for the shackle hangers then box them to themselves. Seems like an awful lot of work and they are still independent so they will still bind the leafs up. When they are welded to each other they stop 99.9% of binding or so I have been told. I wonder how your bolt will make out now that they can't flex, but are still independent.?. You got me wondering for sure.

    I'm thinking you could of saved yourself a ton of work and had a better product in the end, but like I said I'm a n00b.

    This photo is garbage and so are the shackle brackets, but it gets the point across.
