Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
Turns out I am headed to Vancouver, BC the 28th so I am definitely out for that weekend.

Still interested in hitting it the weekend prior if all goes well.

Made it up no issues when my truck was bone stock last year (no suspension, tires from the dealer). Go slow if yer worried, air down for optimal comfort, bring a spare a and compressor if yer concerned about punctures

Epic spot, can get crowded (meaning 5-6 vehicles). Good fishing so bring a pole!

On yer way up or down from SoCal, hit Coyote Flats for some epic 4x and scenery. VERY GENERAL rule of thumb: east of the 395 is relatively milder that the western side of 395. If yer flexible on camping, you can always find BLM land to stay on. Get a couple miles off 395 and it gets empty real quick

Enjoy. You don't need a bunch of gear/mod/lights/RTT's to have fun, y0ou have a Tacoma!. If its good enough for the Taliban, it's probably good enough for you

Don’t think I can make this trip (friend weddings galore) but have been dying to get out to Mammoth! If anyone has the time and can PM me some useful info or spots I would be forever grateful! I will be going to “christen” my RTT with the wife and a cool spot will hopefully make her more apt to camping more. Cheers!

I headed up to Laurel Lakes a few weeks ago the weekend after they opened up the trail, but could only get a little way past the 2nd campground before the snow became too much and it was totally impassable. Couldn't get all the way to the lakes. Beautiful area though, the second campground is a great place to set up camp. Snow should be gone by next month though.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Wish I had seen this thread before I planned a trip of my own with some friends August 1-6. Going to follow y'alls trip if you dont mind, and possibly ask yall some questions of my own that pertain to the area. Our initial plans are to spend two nights towards Mammoth or JLL, and then 2 nights up towards Virginia Lakes. Fish in the mornings, check out towns / trails / and yosemite in the afternoons / evenings.

My advice is just skip Yosemiteland and just concentrate on the eastern side of the sierras. Yosemite valley has become an overcrowded joke. Every meadow we drove past, a couple of years ago, had people in it in bathing suits carrying inner tubes to float the river. Every campground looked like a college spring break fest. So crowded and crazy. Not what I was expecting at all. If you just kept your eyes 7ft and above it was beautiful though. I don't think this is what John Muir had envisioned this "park" to be. I guess in 2016 they had over 5 million guest visitors.

I’ll be staying up there July 1-6 and using Oh Ridge as a basecamp (family friendly spot). Anyone around that time, lemme know. We’ll run some trails

Great photos. I backpacked through the sierras a few years ago and had a blast. Looking forward to getting my Tacoma out there this summer!
