    There's an actual designated shooting range just east of Mammoth about a mile off the 395.

    Here is some more info about the campsite. From what I have read, if the campsite is too full, you can just drive around and pick a spot anywhere you can fit. I am still going to drive up Thursday night so I get first dibs on the good spots.
