Hey Jerry this is Cha from NORCAL FJ(I held your rear bumper down at Eagles Lake). I would be interested in this run, wherever and whenever it may be. I know of a great trail that is near Kyburz that the NORCAL FJ group is planning to do a trail clean up sometime in May. When it gets closer I can take a run up that way and report back on trail conditions. I also know of others trails in the Lake Basin Recreation area, located in the Plumas National Forest. Lmk bro.

Its my Ham radio call sign. Its a special plate. You pay a one time fee, but not yearly fees like a regular vanity plate. Can get you out of trouble too. Most law enforcement know how vital a role ham operators play in emergency communication. When cell phones dont work ham operators come out in force with more emergency operating equipment than you could ever imagine.

See, with ham radios its not a matter of quality or how good a radio it is. they are all good radios. Its about the features. This is a single band 2 meter radio. It is a good one at that. You really only need 2meters around here because the pave paws radar system at beale has shut down almost all the 440 machines, but unfortunately to get into a remote face radio you have to buy a dual band. Also FRS is at 460 which is just above the 440 band so you need a dual band to listen to it. it is illegal to transmit on FRS and you shouldnt modify your radio to do so. ;) In the end on 2m where you will operate almost all the time this radio will function just as well as my radio. It just wont have all the bells and whistles.

No problem, I can help you pick out a good used one too. save you some money, especially if you want a dual band for the FRS and Remote face.
