I have a feeling this thread is going to blow up...
I'm on OCN.net a lot but that place is a ghost town compared to TW. I need my truck fix and my nerd fix.

 

What we need is Mr. Torgue.

 

anyone here like RTS games? Age of empires, Command and Conquer, and my favorite homeworld 1 and 2.

 

Homeworld 2. Yeah. Those were some good times.

 

did you know it has been remastered recently?

 

No I didn't. I have a few RTS games sitting in my queue that I haven't touched.

 

Frick I tried Homeworld the remake a few weeks ago and got spanked. I don't know how I found that game so easy as a kid lol.

 

Yeah, the remake though is a bit disappointing. They could of made amazing visuals but settled for ok.

 

I loved the remake. Visuals come second to gameplay for me. Though in my opinion HW2 was a beautiful game to begin with. Maybe not in detail but looking at the backgrounds of nebulas and galaxies was awesome.

 

For me the nostalgia was there but... I could of gotten that with my copy of the original. I prefer remakes that make me drool at their awesomeness graphically as well as get me all warm and fuzzy with gameplay.

I think part of my problem on the replay side was the first time I did it I kept multiple saves and always went back when I wasted resources by losing ships I didn't need to lose. Now that I'm older I'm just not ready to play that slowly lol.

Have you tried Stellaris? I mean its a total economy game but I find the tactical aspect of it extremely fun. I haven't played it since the last update though and it seems like very update generally changes the dynamic and balance of the game by a lot.

Not really? It's hard to relate anything to it. Imagine tomorrow the Earth discovered cheap space travel and decided to start colonizing the Galaxy. That would be this game. You have to control everything from politics to government to resources to diplomacy with aliens who might not understand or respect you to even designing your own defense forces. Plus you have too choose which planets to colonize first and how to exploit them and you only get to control 8 before you have to pass them off to an adviser. Pile onto that the sheer length of a game and the odd galactic catastrophe the game throws in... Yeah that's the game in a nutshell .

 

Oh and you set a pile of laws too so you can even run your empire like ISIS if you really wanted too. Once you pick your empire type and people traits though you're stuck playing that way so you can't develope sudden morals if you're going to start a game as a xenophobic slaver lol.

 

That sounds awesome. I will definitely have to look into that one. Sounds complex but that isn't always a bad thing. Complex games can hold your attention for longer I think.

 

Yup. It's the type of game you have to play a few times to figure out. Don't fall in love with your first attempt lol.

 

You can't mention RTS's without StarCraft. Damn I loved the original and expansion. I have the sequel but can't get into it. It's crazy because there's still a pro league for Brood War.

 

My only StarCraft memories are of a local kid beating the shit out of us at LAN parties because he literally played StarCraft morning, noon, and night. We could play him 3 on 1 and he'd still win most of the time. It was crazy how good he is. IIRC in South Korea StarCraft is either the number 2 or 3 sport by revenue...

 

not anymore, KeSPA, the big south korean professional starcraft organization, shut down a while back and starcraft pretty much got dumped after that happened

 

Good to know. E sports are a bitch. My wife works with a girl who tried to get into some pro COD tourneys when Black OPs came out. She was good enough but there just wasn't a big enough following like there was for MW. She ended up in debt big time and is still working it off.
