If you can fix a tractor you can build a computer. There really isn't anything to it beyond snapping parts into place in the right order and avoiding static electricity.

I built my first PC without knowing a thing...I didn't know that the RAM I had in my shopping cart wouldn't work with my MoBo and I didn't know my MoBo couldnt overclock until after I built everything and put a 2500K into it.

You guys can throw out a budget, tell us what you want the rig to do, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied.

I don't know where my Pi is....bought it for emulators and ROMs....got 700GB of content from my friend who builds custom arcade stations....and now damn Pi is MIA.

Was originally going to set a couple up at work with some flatscreens to show our truck GPS but I found that it didn't like the Java/whateverthehell trackimo.com uses.

 

I'm just quietly waiting for Ryzen to mature lol.

People at my work are selling Pi's almost daily for ~$25-50 after they're done with them for whatever project

 

Yup lol. Well not that bad. The first chips haul ass at their price point but board availability and ram compatability are brutal. I'll wait till next year when Ryzens next generation comes out. By then games will have added AMD optimization and the 590s will be out. I need to start editing drone produced maps soon though and my Skylake i5 isn't great at rendering.

 

I'll build a new system once I get my hands on a reference 1080ti or TitanXP.
I'm sure a stock 2500k will be the bottleneck.

Then I'll take my current home PC to work.

Same here. Ran around doing a bunch of errands instead. Next weekend isn't looking much better for my time. Flying out to the Other Coast on Sunday morning for a work conference
