Hey, y’all. Going to redo the sound stage in the front by pulling the kicker ks tweeters and Kicker CS 6x9s and try out the Kenwood Excelon 3 way components. I’m intrigued by the 3.5 mid and tweeter combo that will sit in the dash.

The tweeters are not plug and play so I ordered these adapters off of Amazon.
8C5C1F1D-D6EC-4EFB-A70F-01FDC5366743.jpg My goal is to not cut into the wires going into the tweeter harness. Since the tweeters and front door speakers are in line I’m assuming I could tie the two reds and two blacks from this harness into the crossover wires coming off of the mid tweeter combo and plug them into the factory female. Am I off base here?

I also have a hideaway 10 and a kicker key 180.4. I’m going to keep the Kicker CS 6x5 coaxials in the rear doors for the time being. Thanks for any feedback!

using that harness you pictured, you would connect your 3.5"/tweeter crossover to the leads, and then connect your woofer to the factory wiring in the door

Thanks, @destin_meeks!What I also like is being able to splice everything going in the dash location outside of the truck instead of having to work in that tight corner.

I would run new wire for the dash and door speakers......

Amplify the dash and door speakers and run the rears off of the head unit(or just eliminate them)...

In your opinion, what would you set the key to since both the woofer and mid/tweeter combo will now have crossovers themselves? I also have the Hideaway 10 which I took your advice on and set the key to 80 to separate the lows to come into the Hideaway. Just trying to figure out the best set up. Thanks!

I'll be following this. I just added the Kicker tweeters and they're goodish, but it seems to be lacking some mid. I'd like to see how these fit in the dash and your experience with them. You're powering these with a Key?

Also, am I understanding correctly that there really isn't a crossover in our trucks from OEM? The wiring just runs through the tweeter to play the highs and the woofer just takes care of whatever the tweeter can't produce?

From what I’ve read on the forums i think there is some kind of limiter on the stock tweeters that keeps them from getting the other frequencies. @destin_meeks or @Philrab would be two that could tell you.

Yeah any time you can get work out of the truck and on the bench makes it so much better

I would still set the key to 80, depending on your music taste. Set it to 60 and play some of your favorite music just to see how it sounds, but I personally don’t like it that low, for what I listen to

there is a capacitor on the factory tweeter that blocks out low frequencies. But you are correct, the radio doesn’t have any crossovers or anything internally.

    Yes, that is correct.

Everything is coming in Friday. So just want to make sure I have this right. Wire positive coming from crossover into two positive wires from Red Wolf harness. Negative from crossover into two negative wires from Red Wolf Harness. Use Metra harness that is plugged into factory plug in door to connect new woofer. Run key EQ settings again with mic and pink noise. Is that right?

You wouldn’t really need to cut it down to the two red and two blacks because they’re already spliced to the silver wires. Just connect your tweeter crossover to those

Gotcha. Maybe attach some connectors on the crossover wires to go into the spades on the Red Wolf then?

I would cut the spade off and solder if that’s something you’re familiar with

Ended up going with the kicker ks speakers for the front. Been really happ with them. I’m going to keep the tweeter harnesses in case I ever do decide to go components in the front.
