Has anyone installed something other then the Subaru or/ DS18 tweeters, I have the JBL speakers. and want to start upgrading the speakers but I don't want to use the Subaru ones. I know everyone likes them cause they are better and plug and play. I was just I saw some Kenwood's and some Kickers out there that look like a good alternative. Any recommendations.?

I know there's like a million threads. already about speakers tweeters etc. just 90% of what I found were all about the Subaru ones or DS18

So why are you trying to go with something else? They are proven excellent upgrades.

Kickers and DS18s are 4 ohm and the JBLs are reportedly 2 ohm and I believe not plug and play? So they aren't a good option in this case anyways.

Maybe someone will chime in. I don't see many folks with JBL do much modifying to the audio system.

You are correct. The JBL system is 2ohm. Haven’t seen a JBL owner do the Subaru or DS18 tweeters yet.

if you check out my posts I have the JBL system and swapped all my speakers out.

The Subaru tweeters are made by Kicker. So if you want a Kicker tweeter that's great and super easy to install... I'm no audiophile but my wife and I noticed a drastic improvement between the stock set in hers and Kicker in mine. Especially at higher volumes.

I’m using 3.5 kicker tweeters in the dash with bass blockers. So they are extremely bright but I eq mine down and sounds good.

but that is the opposite of plug and play.
i found the kicker tweeters to be really shrill and peaky, put that is probably due to reflections

yes, i'm running aliexpress aiyima tweeters in my truck.
    https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251...ea!US!3782556518!S&curPageLogUid=nI7cC2yWi4js

currently full-active with a pioneer prs-80 with only new wire ran to the tweeters from the headunit. the door speakers are powered via a jumper in the oem tweeter connector to pass the signal through to them.

i think they sound great. almost as good as the genuine peerless ring radiator design they copy.
