Matching tweeter wattage with existing amp setup

Hello all! I have a question. I believe that my tweeters get their signal from the front 6x9s if I'm not mistaken. I have a 2020 TRD OFFRD. I have a 4 channel Pioneer amp that runs my front and rear door speakers with 100 watts per channel. I want to get new tweeters and the ones I have looked at run from 50-60 watts. Since my tweeters get the signal from the front speakers, and my 6x9s are 100 watts rms, is it okay to run it with this amp? Do I need my 6x9s to run at 50 watts and the tweeters 50 watts or is it okay to run the 6x9s at 100 watts?

 

I'd upgrade the tweeters, the stock ones leave a lot to be desire. I've got the

I plan on upgrading my tweeters of course. What I am trying to figure out is if my door speakers are 100watts rms and my amp is 4 channel with 100 watts each channel, does it matter the wattage of tweeters? Since the signal for the tweeters is the same signal for the 6x9s, will that mean the front speakers will be 150watts tweeters and 6x9s together? Or is it okay to still use my 100watt per channel amp?

 

You’re fine using the 100w amp. Speakers don’t “draw” power from an amp in so much as an amp “pushes” power to the speakers. As long as the gains are set right, and the rms of the speakers is higher, you’re golden.

 

It's the opposite. The stock hu wires go to the tweeters first, then split in parallel to feed the door 6x9s.

Both speakers will draw from the amp in parallel - it depends on the individual properties of each speaker on what is going to draw more

Instead of tweeters I would recommend running a tweet/woof component set instead. Those will come with a crossover and will be much easier to balance. They'll also take better advantage of the power output from the amp.

I have heard component sets sound a lot better. Component sets is where there is no tweeter on the 6x9 right? Would connecting them be different or can you use a plug and play? Right now, I have new wires running from my amp to the 6x9s using the the plug and play. I just want to know if anything would be different in connecting them. Also, would they run in parallel or do the tweeters connect straight to the amp? Sorry, a little new to this. I am learning a lot, but there is still more to learn.
