I've figured out why women like Twilight, but first some backstory....

So last Sunday I got dragged to the 3rd Twilight movie, and today I watched the first one on FX because I really wanted to know what is all this hype?

At my local theater, they had to cordon off half the parking lot of the campers who got in line 3 days before the premiere, and the day before, they had a Twilight trivia contest. I'm like WTF?!?!

But I digress, one of my favorite hobbies is people reading, leading to my minor in behavior psychology, so using my super skills, I've figured out why women like Twilight. At least to some extent...

The Twilight series plays to every woman's carnal desires. The want for men to fight over her, her friends to be jealous of her, she does zero work in the relationship and the men do everything, her father to trust her, etc... and each of these psychological lusts are represented by characters.

    The Father [The ideal father]:
-Trust's her completely, and let's her do whatever she wants
-Tries to be involved in her life without being overly pushy
    -Protective, but not overly so.
    -Worries about her
-Never raises his voice to her even in an arguement
-Leaves her alone when she's upset
-Gives her her space when needed

Edward (The Vampire) [The ideal boyfriend]:
-Wants her with every ounce of his being
    -Mysterious
    -Refined
    -A gentleman
-Completely self sacrificing without being resentful
    -Dependable
    -Protective
    -Caring
    -Dresses metrosexually
-Strong, and fast, but not the strongest. (accepts his weaknesses)
    -Older in age (Very important)
    -Mature (Also very important)
    -A refined fighter
    -Knight in shining armor
    -Her prince

Jacob (The werewolf)[The other ideal boyfriend]:
    - Wants her also but can't have her (The idea of forbidden love comes into play)
    -Ripped, cut, huge, built, stacked
    -A brutish fighter
    -Rugged
    -Sacrificing also
-More selfish than Edward, but not by much
    -Very loving, warm hearted
    -Sacrifices his family for her
    -The bad boy
-The other knight in shining armor
    -Her secret lover

    Edwards family
    -Accepts her immediately
    -Defends her
-Becomes instant friends with Edward's siblings

The other teenage guys in the movie
-Want Bella also (She's fucking Helen of Troy ain't she...?)
-She turns them down bluntly and they accept it and move on easily (Not pushy)

    Female friends in the movie
    -Jealous of her and Edward
    -Supportive in every way
    -They do what she wants

    Bella
-She is passive, but yet takes charge
    -Aggressive without seeming aggressive
-Gets what she wants without seeming spoiled and selfish at all
    -Friends lover her
-Everyone like her, but they don't show it
    -Accepted easily
-Edward and Jacob have a past, but they are some how friends, and they fight over the same girl rather too civilized.

^^^Twilight makes up for what women lack in their life, or past, or childhood. It fills a void they have always had but never filled. It fulfills their ideal wants and needs in life, in a boyfriend, in family life. It's disgusting.

I made a semi-educated rationalization of why the Twilight series is popular with women, and to do so I had to run the gauntlet.

I am not proud of what I did, but I now have a better understanding of all the B.S. surrounding it.
