so to conclude - since you don't have the unlimited time or money to do it and no one else does either or doesn't think its possible at all to begin with - i think this myth is busted. NOT POSSIBLE :)

However, I still don't like the words "not possible". IMO, I could make it manual shift for about $10 + a few hours of labor + a bunch of old junk from my "spare parts" heap like a pair of outboard motor throttle/shift cables + handle. Of course, what you'd get out of that would be ugly as hell and would spray gear oil everywhere. It might physically compromise the shift forks as well (I would have to look at them in detail to determine this).

Super cheap (but really crappy) way: open case, remove clips on sliding shaft to allow both forks to move independently, drill two smallish holes in the back of the case, insert outboard motor cables, drill hole THROUGH middle of 2/4 shift fork through which to pass the L/H cable, affix ends of cables to shift forks, reassemble. Route cables up into cab and mount the outboard motor control handle. BTW: I'm talking about the OLD style outboard motor handle with separate levers for shift and throttle.

This does not require **unlimited** time or money, therefore VERY possible.

PSU Taco85 has provided me some pictures of the ADD actuator. Looks like the problem is that the seal is failing on them. This unit is easily disassembled. It has a small bi-directional motor that operates a worm gear. It looks like the motor itself is being contaminated by salt water, in addition, it is possible for the limiter switch contacts to be contaminated. The contacts are easily cleaned, and the motor may or may not be salvageable on a case-by-case basis. If the motor is seized, I would first try to soak it for a while in a light penetrating oil, then gently try to turn it. With some luck, it may come back to life. Or maybe not.

It might be advisable to perform some preventative maintenance on the unit if yours is still operational, since it is so easily disassembled. Clean it, spray it down with a light oil, and seal it up really good with the best kind of sealer you can get your hands on. It looks like a "greased o-ring" type seal from factory.

Someone should create a separate thread for the ADD actuator, I think it's worth discussing further. With the right pointers/instructions I'd be interested in doing PM on mine.

As for the twin stick xfer case. I'm definitely giving Wyatt a call if I have problems with my 4WD actuator. I've read here from other TW members that the estimates from Toyota dealers are like $1,300 to fix a bad actuator!

I would think that its mostly crash part-outs. That is one of the big questions that got me to thinking about modding the Tacoma case. With the Tacoma case, there is no question of availability since there is already one on your truck. I honestly have no idea about the supply of parts like this.

No need for me to send you anything. I know how it works and spent my time and money figuring it out.
You on the other hand are just working on theories. Your comments on the two FJ shafts again tell me you've never had one of these cases apart. You have no clue how these cases actually work.

I've had them both apart time and again looking for better ways to do things and for ways to make them better or stronger.

I've actually applied my theories on REAL working models. And they have proven to work.

Like I said before. YOU put your money where your mouth and finger tips are. I've done my home work already.

There are three types of people in this world

Those that want to do something and never do

Those that talk about doing something and never do

And those who do it and them talk about it

Guess which one you appear to be

But please. Prove me wrong. But do it on your dime.

Here is my theory in action

You obviously don't know how to read, or something to that effect. In any case, you're obviously a close-minded prick, so I'm done here.
