It's a great looking top end so far.

Yes correct. Factory is 5 speed and they went to 6 speeds for the 350Z and 370Z. That plate is made to adapt to those two transmissions as well. A 6 speed swap from one of those two cars into a 300ZX is a fairly common upgrade.

Yup same gear ratio will be kept, it's a 4.10.

So far, it looks like you have a good clean donor there. Nice.

Close to pulling the heads off now!

This also looks good, the shims still have their machine marks.

I love the UZ motors. Have owned and worked on the 2uz and 3uz. Love to see this!

I've seen hundreds of UZ 240s but not a UZ 300ZX. Super cool. And of course, we love Z's  Following along!

Nice to see a fellow Z lover! An S chassis ain't bad either - hard to find the Z32 swaps online. I'll have to make sure mine is well documented.

Everything is all apart... time to send the heads for cleaning and the block to the machine shop.

The motor is still looking good. Conrod bearings appear to be fine, valves all look pretty good. No signs of head gasket issues!

This is going to be such a "wtf is going on" swap

I would not be comfortable attempting this lol

Looks like a great engine, you seem to know how to take things apart lol

"Wtf is going on" is pretty much what I'm going for with this whole thing.

Yeah taking things apart is the easy part I think. It all just feels like a big Lego set to me though. Except there aren't very good instructions anywhere...

In other news, my speed shop friend and I were talking about making a hybrid of these two intakes.

Everything apart. No apparent problems at all. Rings, bearings, crank all look great considering the age.

Sent off to the machine shop today for bore and new pistons.

Starting this process. Definitely bringing a couple of carbide burrs tomorrow. My hands have pins and needles.
