I returned my Costco one, it self discharged too fast (75%) in one month. Carry two of these plus I have a regular cellphone pack to recharge other stuff, can use to recharge the jumpers.

I didn't tell him to buy the setup. I'm just giving him the option that there are companies that offer a dual battery setup :hattip:

good to know on the costco one. I didn't have problems with mine but I definitely trust my new GeniusBoost a lot more.

I like the idea of a dual battery if you're running multiple accessories. I would go even further with a solar panel attached to keep the batteries topped off whilst camping

hmmmm... didn't think about solar panels. Will probably look into it if I move to Arizona (been wanting to move for a while now).

Btw the "amps" rating on these might be the biggest bunch of nonsense chinglish I've ever heard

3 inch lift with Toytec Boss and All Pro UCA's up front. AP expedition leafs with Bilstien 5100 shocks in the back. 255/85/16 Cooper S/T Max tires. All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.

Agree here to. Mine has let me park the truck at camp in the Canyonlands for 4 days while running my fridge as a freezer. Make sure you have a charge controller on the solar so you don't over-charge

I don't plan to light up the path with stadium lights lol.

Honestly, I am not going to be running my lights without the engine running. I just need the lights for like 30 - 60 mins in-case I didn't get to my campsite before sunset and need the light to set-up. The only lights that will be running while I am moving are my ditch lights and my rear roof lights. My side roof lights are there only when I stop to check something out or set-up camp in the dark. Of course there will be the winch in case I need to get myself out of a hole, but that is all I will be adding accessories wise that will need to be powered.

I will probably just buy the 1000 Amp NOCO Genius Boost since there will not be a fridge in this truck build (thanks to those that have gave a review of this booster). I don't camp longer than 2 nights solo and if I want to stay longer, I go with a group of friends that have fridges in almost all their rig =p.

A small solar panel with a small battery in the bed sounds pleasing if I do decide to add a fridge though.

I mean maybe in the sense that 1,000amps isn't actually 1,000 amps. But its still very important info to have as a 1,000amp rated box will obviously have much more power than a 300amp rated one, assuming a name brand and not a case of outright fraud.

Its something you can even test yourself with a basic multimeter, plenty of reviewers have done just that. Just have to understand that these smaller consumer oriented portable battery jumpers are almost universally rated in PEAK amps. Not actual cranking amps (especially cold cranking amps).

So when I see a 1,000amp rating, if its a quality brand with good reviews, I can reliably count on 500 or so actual cranking amps in real world use, which is still plenty for my applications. But thats why I always recommend buying a much more powerful one that you think you need.

Its similar to how people think temp ratings on sleeping bags are bullshit... they're not, people just don't understand its a survivability rating not a comfort rating. The amp rating is peak not crank.

Tacomas sip gas at idle. Like would run for days. Leave engine on If need lighting.. people with ultraguages are reporting .4gal /hrs so < 1$ gas for half hr lighting, no worries about dead battery/priceless

if you have a roof rack you can mount to that and remove when you're at a camp site and prop up on the ground. Definitely worth a look into

Yeah i hear you, the higher "rating" probably means is more powerful/long lasting. As for fraudulent numbers they are all guilty even the "brand name ones". The small one i have started a dead (lights left iin for 2 weeks) f250 diesel. Took about a minute and the pack got very hot. I carry 2 now.

I would upgrade stock battery to a Group 31 AGM and carry a Li-ion jump pack.
