Well, the wifey is pregnant again. If all goes according to plan, my double cab backseat will need to accomodate two child seats and a golden retriever.

Am I dreaming? Has anyone made this configuration work? Ive seen a few other threads, but not this combination of little humans and big dog.

The dog can't go in the bed-- too cold in winter. On the plus side, wife and I have short legs so we can keep the front seats slid forward.

I'm about to have to do the whole two car seat deal myself which in testing having both back there is fine I just can't speak for the big dog part since I don't have one.

Man, the back seat on these things is so sad I have dedicated it to the dog exclusively lol.

Figured I'll get a Tundra when it's time for kids.

I can fit our two kids plus an adult in the back.

Diono Radian RXT car seat is required for at least one spot. I will probably be putting a second one in there once our second little guy outgrows the current one that is in there.

OP you should probably start looking at Tundra or some other full size.

I had an access cab with two kids until last fall. My 13 year old almost 6 foot son has done fine, but needed more room.

Define adult, at 6'1" 210lbs I wouldn't sit in the back by myself

Two car seats, no problem. I have had two toddlers, my friends and my kiddo, and one 65lb lab mix. It was tight, so around town was fine, but it it be tight for the dog on a longer drive. Hope this helps!

Well someone smaller than that certainly. But my wife is 5'1" so she can sit there with no problem and any guest can take the front passenger seat.

Had a trip recently with 6 adults (immediate family), the adults were mostly under 5'-9, I'm 6'. The cab was not exactly cramped but quite snug. That's when I knew at some point I'd have to go full size.

I have 5 year old twin girls and can't image our 65lb doberman getting back there with them. She would be falling all over them.

Now it wouldn't be a problem with an F150, the dog could lay on the floor as much room as they have in the back.

To cold for a golden? They do just fine in the snow, I can understand wanting to keep it comfortable but with a topper that should be fine in the bed

3M wrapped gloss white bumper caps, dipped badges, 4Runner off road wheels, ccg Toyota grill. Led headlights and fog lights. Bestop topper. Caliraised ditch lights
I have somewhat the same dilemma. Newborn and wife and 2 dogs. One 75 lb dog and one 20 lb dog. I just got a bestop supertop. Waiting for it to get here. Trying to think of ideas to cool the truck bed since I live in Texas. Summers are hot as heck. Wouldn't want my dogs back there in that crazy heat.

    maybe a toyota sienna? lol
even with short legs unless you can sit as far forward as the seat goes...not much space. plus dog? car seats take up a lot of space. Pooch won't have any room.

Option A: leave the dog at home.
Option B: have the dog ride bitch.
Option C: upgrade to a full size.
Option D: Get a large SUV.

    Either way your screwed.

This is what I was hoping to hear. Maybe I can convince my wife to get a Sienna and then leave the short trips to the Tacoma.

This is a solid analysis, especially the conclusion. I was hoping to avoid an automatic transmission. But yeah, I'm probably screwed.

Fletch the golden enjoys running in the snow. But I think asking him to keep still in the back on a -20F morning might be rough, especially since my Leer topper permits air leakage at highway speed.

That is pretty cold actually. It usually only gets to the teens around here at the coldest

    don't do it bro.
    get a 4runner.
you can get them as 7 passenger seating as well would be perfect for the longer trips and still be a bad ass vehicle with 4x4.
