If that's the case, not many vehicles could support that. Poor kids legs would have to rest on top the the vehicle seats, one foot on each side of the head rest, well not really, but you get the point.

Big heads and zero neck muscles, I'm talking babies not bros, if you want to keep them in one piece rear facing is what you have to do.

My comment was about keeping a 4 year old in a rear facing car seat.

Have two kids, learned a thing or two, but not much in their 13 & 11 years.

Your right for sure, I was talking babies, not older kids. first couple of years rear facing is the way to do it.

Put the two car seats and the wife in the back.
Dog will fit fine in the front.

It's simply to hot in the summer in many southern states. And of course too cold in the winter in many northern states and Canada.

So everytime someone says put their fur babies in the bed, I cringe. It is NOT a transportation option here.

Well the wife and I are expecting our first and her friend (who drives a fully loaded Avalon) said that the back seat would be too small for 1 car seat and all the baby items to travel with. The wife instantly starting questioning if her friend was right and well.......we now own a full size truck lol. She is now starting to think that her Lexus RX 350 is too small and wants a new Tahoe.

I currently live the life of a double cab with 2 kids/car seats. My dog hates the road but my sister is approx. 120lbs and has rode in between the car seats on a 3hr drive to reno and she didnt mind it.

    OMGLOL!

I have two kids (5 & 3). Some of my friends kept telling me we needed a bigger car when my daughter was born. Boy we’re they wrong! Our family car is a 2013 Impreza hatch. My daily is a 3 door MK4 GTI. We are just FINE!!!

In fact, my friend who stressed it the most had an STi hatch. When his son was born, he traded it in for an Outback. He just traded the Outback in for a 2018 Impreza hatch.

Anyways, you’ll be fine with what you’ve got.

UGH! I’m so annoyed that Recaro pulled their whole line of child seats from the US. When it came booster time for my daughter, I couldn’t get the Recaro booster to match my son’s Performance Sport. Anyways, I ended up getting her the Clek Oobr. Which is AWESOME, BTW.

My wife has decided to sit in the back with both of our kids. The stress levels are much lower and my Golden on the best road dog while in the front seat. Tough pill to swallow for her but it really has worked out for the best on long trips. My kids are in boosters now.

I'm only 6' and my seat is all the way back. The ergonomics are whack in this thing; one of the first things I noticed when I drove it home. It was built for midgets.

My lab has ridden hundreds of miles in a dog crate in the back of an open pickup,
I got an insulated cover that zips over the crate and strapped it in securely.
I put a blanket or a couple old sweatshirts in the kennel and he's good.
    He's 12 1/2 now so obviously he's survived.

I vote 4Runner, with third row. Eventually one of your children will claim that whole third row and the other child gets to wrestle the dog in the second row. Or dog in third with rear window rolled down a bit and the kids get the second row.

Either way my wife has stated she gets a 4Runner long before we ever get a minivan.

And don't forget the most important thing about the T4R!, it's made in Japan and has a nice 4.0 non-Atki V6!

Too hot while driving? Are there no windows? I'm working with the assumption that the dog is let out of the truck when stopped.
