I always had my dailies built. Couple things:

Gas mileage wasn't a concern due to work reimbursing all gas.

I liked the comfort of the 4runner. I don't wheel hard at all and armor was more of insurance/minor usefulness (i.e. Tire carrier, gas carrier, d ring points)

I hated knowing that the 4runner was my ride to work on monday if I broke it on sunday... Kept me way calmer than even I wanted to be.

I really like the truck now since I walk to work. It sits in the garage, packed to go camping, and it doesn't come out unless I'm going on a trip. That is why I'll have no problem building this one a little bigger and a little better.

Right on, not sure how mine looked before they started leaking, but I was going to say since you had them right there might as well swap them out. You don’t need to pull them all the way to get the diff out if that’s what your saying about the copper line.

Damn. That's the dream! Unfortunately not a reality for me but hopefully "some day." Dreaming of paying off the 5th gen, building it up the way I want, and buying a daily like a Golf R.

I drive it to the store every Sunday. That’s it unless I go to LA or up in the mountains

Do I sell the 4Runner and buy a 1st gen Tacoma when I move to California?

    Where are you moving?

I love your rig. Also love first gens. Tough!

Haha someone local just asked if he can buy it in July(ish) when he gets back from deployment. Would make moving a lot easier. Just ship a couple bikes and buy a plane ticket

I’m starting work in July in Livermore, CA. Probably moving in June

I like first gens because they’re familiar. If even consider a second gen Tacoma or first gen tundra. Something that’s buildable and I can put a half bed rack on with a rtt since I refuse to put a rtt on my 4Runner

Just remember Bay Area prices on vehicles is way higher than back east. A decent DC 1st gen will be 10-15k easily. I love my tundra and feel so cramped in a 3rd gen now but they also aren’t the most trail friendly. Just depends on what you’re looking for. Lots of rocks and tight spots wheeling out here. I loved my 3rd gen for its ease to manage on the trail.

Yeah, I keep looking at CL and seeing that. Probably smartest if I keep my 4Runner and just beat it up out there but he came to me wanting to buy it which is what brought about these thoughts. Still a lot I want to do with the 4Runner and I can definitely make it happen with a disposable income

Compared to most east coast vehicles, pretty damn good. Been in salt once and only one. Power washed extensively after. Sprinklers under the 4Runner after snows as well. So as for that, I’m not worried about it

Ever tried to google something specific and want to chunk your phone? Finding the front diff fill and drain plug thread and pitch is the most annoying thing I’ve ever googled lol.

Got the alternator in and filled the diffs with fluid. Took her on a test drive to see how she does since she hasn’t been on the road in a goood while. Performed flawlessly.

Yeah I would agree it was surprisingly not really that noticeable
