    20
    --------
    5 (2x2)

    Parentheses = (2x2) = 4
    Multiplication = 5x4 =20
    Division = 1

    Core = 20 pencils growing in a hydroponics lab beside 5 meth labs with 2 adults and 2 squirrels equals 16 Congress people.

    :pccoffee: Where's that pesky SS gift. I'm feeling all hulk rage for the box or wrapping paper.

    I was always taught pemdas, however, follow the order if they are both there. So, to get further off topic..

    20/5 (2x2)
    4 (4)
    16

    Do inside () and outside () at the same time.

    Then you have rewritten the problem as (20/5)(2x2), which is not what was given. The only correct answer following the rules of math is 1, as Sandman pointed out. Common Core attempts to rewrite the rules also.

    20 / 5 (4) (Multiplication comes before division in PEMDAS)

    20 / 20

    Common core is for Socialists

    That just makes you wrong also.

    20/5(2*2)=
    20/5(4)=
    20/20=
    1

    In mathematical equations you never do two things at the same time.

    Looks like my gift was delivered and left at the front door on the 8th, but I haven't seen my giftee post yet. With all this news about people swooping packages lately, I really hope it wasn't stolen. To wait it out or PM my giftee...? :confused:

    im not saying you do but 20/5 comes before the operation of 5(4). Guarantee talk to any college mathematics professor and they will say the answer is 16.
