I am actually working through a friend with a contact at Atkinson in Bryan, but the deal is going to be worked through their South Dallas location. It is going to end up a couple hundred dollars over invoice. Won't know specific final # until they get the order actually placed and see which GST port packages they can take off, but I was happy with it. Dealer here in Houston wanted MSRP if they were going to order it for me.

Got it! Keep me posted and if I can find a better deal quicker it might be worth it. You might give my guy in Colorado a call and see what they have/can do. It would only take a minute and who knows.

Tell him Derek told you to call. They had one there when I picked mine up.

Imma have to call madisonville. I've talked to Mike Calvert but they wouldn't come off MSRP or work with my trade.

Sterling McCall gave me 1500 off right off the bat but wants me to see what CarMax would do on my trade without even knowing what I owe on it :-/

I hate the negotiation process because I expect a good deal, considering I'm more than qualified and would do money down if they would approach the deal like they gave a damn.

I was at Toyota of Dallas yesterday and have to go back for service today. Their selection is very limited and their prices are WAY high!

I did an inventory search the other night. There are (were) nine DCLB Tacomas in the Los Angeles area. Even got a call from a sales rep there. Searched all territories other than the northeast. Nothing. I am willing to drive a great distance to get the right deal, however I cannot conceive of any deal that would make me want to drive that far. I am in the process of trying to get a dealer to actually work with me over the phone to spec an order Tacoma. Jesus Christ. Some (most) of these people couldn't hack it in the real world, and have no concept of how to succeed in an internet society. Yes, they respond to your internet build, but only to make contact and to tell you that "we won't lose your business over price". Really? Yes, you WILL lose my business over price if you don't hurry up and give me a price. I have a great truck and it runs fine and does everything I want it to, and this is an impulse buy for a truck that in all honesty I really don't need, so your only chance is to do this my way, on the phone, before I catch a bad case of lucidity. Even the internet managers respond only to say, "Come on in". Ask for their email and send them this: 7566, DR, D9, E5, TO, WI, WL, 8Q...price me a truck we can order. They call to say "come on in and we can finish the paperwork". Fella, we haven't even begun the process that would yield the need for paperwork. First thing they teach you in car sales training: sell the vehicle, not the price. I SOLD ME the truck, I vetted its features and benefits. I did your work for you, the truck IS SOLD...now all you have to do is sell me a price. Easy enough. I don't have to come in so you can de-horse me. Just tell me the friggin' price so I can counter-offer you. Play the game that your industry designed and necessarily requires. I ain't comin' in. (I did go into two Toyota dealers a month ago when I was looking at used Tacomas. Not a single customer in either, every salesman in their office, sitting around in their glassed-in cubicles, doing absolutely nothing. Not a single one of them on the phone following up with their week's ups.) I'll give them until Wednesday, then I guess I'll call the fleet managers. They usually do not look a gift horse in the mouth. Sorry about my venting. Buying a car could be and should be one of your fond memories of your lifetime. THEY make it a memory that is loathsome. Gingerbread Man, that surely must be Zaino or Adams on that G8. Beautiful!

I just started shopping after my car got flooded for the second time this year and am having the same experience with the sales people.

I'm trying my best to express how easy a deal I am handing them, yet they still want me to come in. How hard is it order the damn truck and book the sale and move onto the next one? I guess it takes a while for them to realize you aren't an idiot who walks onto dealer lots and impulse buys a $35k truck.

The part that will make me walk away from a dealership is when the sales person treats me like I am an idiot. If I explained that I want a SR5 4Runner without all the bells and whistles (without leather, sun roof, navigation, etc.) and ask about pricing for that, and you bring around an absolutely loaded model to test drive and promise to make a killer deal on it; don't come back with MSRP as your first offer. And when I tell you upfront that I am only going to negotiate based on sales price, when I tell you your MSRP offer is a joke and get ready to leave, don't ask me what kind of payment I was trying to get to.

I feel kind of bad for a guy I was working with on my 2016...but not really. He helped get me ideas of what the dealership could offer and after a few weeks and a test drive, when I finally narrowed it down and told him what I wanted and asked how to make it happen, he went radio silent and stopped returning my emails. I reached out via a friend and got another guy from the same dealership to call me back. We worked out a deal in about 5 mins over the phone. I still don't get why the guy stopped replying...he was one short email or phone call from an easy sale and he got lazy I guess. It had to have been the easiest sale ever for the second guy who called me.

All the 3rd Gens at my local dealer here in Florida have a $3999 "market adjustment" added to the sticker under dealer add-ons.

How far away is the next dealer? These guys are fishing for suckers.

I've got one offer for $1000 under MSRP here in Houston and am trying to get to around $1500. The damn Gulf States TDA is nearly $1000 that they are not keen to deal on.

I seriously doubt the Florida market is much hotter than Texas.

Next dealer is one town over, about 30 mins.

That of course was just my observation of the window sticker not an actual offer.

This is a costal town that allows vehicles on the beach, so trucks in general are a pretty big seller here. Another note, this dealer ran out of 2nd Gens back in July and had no new Tacos until the 3rd Gens showed up. All 10 of the 3r
d Gens they had on the lot that day were 2WD, one Limited, one TRD sport and the rest SR5.
