Really regretting trashing my OEM headlights. They were ugly, old and yellow but damn good at night.

Was wondering if anyone has tried TYC CAPA certified from rock auto? Are they the same as Toyota oem? I don't care how they look really. I just need a good beam pattern for night time without spending a whole paycheck on a 16 yr old truck.

    Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately those lights are not the same as OEM. Aftermarket lights are not going to be up to par with OEM, some are better than others and ones that look noticeable different in style from OEM are going to likely be far worse than those that don't. On a hard budget people will often go with TYC or Depo but I cannot recommend them personally. If you really can't justify new OEM units, you might look on the marketplace section of the forum for used OEM takeoffs, or eBay. Worn lights can be refinished, though results are not like new. New OEM is definitely the most ideal way to go.

The 2nd Gen has really good OEM headlights as you've discovered, and a few upgrades can make them even better. If you haven't seen it yet, this is the 2nd Gen headlight thread that contains most all the info you could want to know on part numbers and upgrades. In searching for new OEM units, I'd recommend searching by part number online, you can usually find them discounted much better than you can get at the dealer.
