It was a process to install it... lots of dicking around nothing is exact with it but I'm glad I have it now. No more dirty muddy air filters!!!!

So I got home from work and it was just pissing rain. ..... needless to say there is a lake on my drivers side floor. I quickly pulled it apart again in the parking lot at work while getting soaked, and shoved my head in there and could see a dribble of water by the plugs under the left kick panel but I couldn't get a good look where it was coming from. My last experience with a rain water leak turned out to be a windshield. Part of me wants to just take it to a windshield shop and get it done but I wanna make sure it's not from the clearancing that was done

I took my interior out again today and had a solid look at everything while I was in the shop. I noticed where I took the hammer to the firewall the seam Sealer had cracked and the panels separated. So I decided to take another stab at my silicone fix and emptied a tube on both sides. I also found water on the passenger side this time which leads me to believe this is the cause. I also picked up a piece of flashing to cover the blower fan intake if this fix proves not to be the cause. The next step after that will be the windshield.....

    Silicone fixes everything right ?

Spent the day working on a couple small projects... installed and wired up my vhf rado. I decided to put it in the center console in front of the shifter. The bracket I ordered was the wrong one so I'll have to swap it out.. I drilled a small hole for the wires in the console
    IMG_20160305_130056_6f42588fde5b9b6eebedd2af7197a7ab1e60da82.jpg

Next up was the arb switches and wiring those harnesses up. This part too a super long time as I didn't wanna trim too much of the dash. So I used a razor and took tiny amounts off I also made the harnesses all nice with tech loom and extended the switch harness to reach the compressor location in my bed box.
    IMG_20160305_142607_b492238e56b0146688c300675cd48e7258aef629.jpg

I was able to reuse the bracket that came with my compressor and ran sOme self rappers into the bottom of the box. I used a 2" hole saw to make a hole for all the wires and air lines etc. Still gotta run the air lines to the diffs tomorrow

Well my stereo has been working intermittently for about a year now, I've fixed the harness for it 3 times and we'll it finally died on me so I picked up a Kenwood double din and ya because the Po had a single din installed this has been nothing but a nightmare ended up having to buy the brackets from toyota which was retardedly expensive and they had to order them cause god forbid they had any parts in stock. I know it's an odd request but seriously it's a pain in my ass. So unable to do the stereo install for the second day in a row I had started a paracord wrap project earlier this week and finished it off.

I just used a quick release knot since I liked the pattern and how it wrapped. I started with the grab handles

    Then the door handles

The steering wheel posed and interesting challenge cause I wanted a continus wrap so I just gave er and liked how it was going so I kept going with it . I used zap straps to hold the cord in place while I wrapped it

I used in total 200 ft of cord and I'm about 6 ft short lol .. I'll pick up some more later and finish off the blank spot. Really happy with how this tured out though

So I bought a kenwood excelon dpx791bh and got it installed... you'll notice there is no pics cause the fitment is horrible. The guys at the stereo shop told me I needed the oem brackets to install it not having them I bought them from toyota for 65$ ok fine, then the head unit didn't come with any mounting hardware, ok.... go back to the stereo shop they give me some standard 8mm long screw bolt things, unfortunately they are all too short to fit right ..... getting more frustrated, go to the parts store get some screws that will work, get the brackets on, bolt it into the truck( I removed and put back the unit like 8 times) attach fit kit to bezel nope unit sits too low, now it sits too high, not it's too far left, now it's too far right.. I got it sorta centered finally and said fuck it I'm not messing with it anymore today..... by far the fuckin hookiest most bullshit stereo install I've ever been part of and I've installed a lot of stereo equipment over the years. Oh I also forgot the stereo shop gave me a silver fit kit instead of black at first as well so this stereo install has taken since Monday and still fits like fuckin shit. I'm so disgusted I don't even wanna look at it right now

Been a while ... I got over the fitment issues I have with the kenwood double din as its really a lot better than the single din. And also no one else has even noticed what I've been seeing.... I also had the chance to get my truck featured in the Vancouver International Auto Show which was pretty cool, and it gave me an excuse to get the truck detailed and steam Cleaned the interior which got two years of camping trips and dirt out... I'm definitely gonna get this done once a year now.. here's a few pics from the show

The next moring we hit the road and headed up to Osoyoos BC for the weekend. It was a weird trip cause we aren't used to staying at resorts and doing super touristy stuff needless to say we did have a little too much fun on the wine tours lol

By mid Saturday we were pretty tired of the tourist scene and decided to go spend a couple hours exploring a local off road spot I was told about. It was nice to just sit and enjoy the view and not have to see another person

This is a beautiful truck. I saw at the vancouver international auto show. I thought it had all i would love to do to my truck. I am floored it has a 4cyl. I have the exact same 2009 4x4 5 speed 4cyl truck in black. It gives me hope that I can do it too. I thought had to get a 6cyl. I read your whole thread. Thank you

No worries man thanks for the kind words... I'm not sure why people think the 2.7 isn't capable it's a great engine.... the only thing I wouldn't do is tow at thing more than a utility trailer, but I don't see myself ever need anything more than that.... let me know if you need any tips or whatever

Well went out and decided to push the truck a bit... I pointed it at every obstacle I either was to scared or didn't have the clearance for and it took em all on... ya I got stuck a lot this weekend but nothing a little tug and a push on the bumper didn't fix..

So the last pic there, winter has been pretty hard on the trails here, and this secret lake trail has always made me work for it. Well Sunday was no different this culvert washed out and I had a good line heading in as its a gradual right hand turn to uphill left and a quick right. I was going good and lost traction on a wet log that's now exposed due to the washout, and slid over about 4 feet. I didn't realize how bad it was cause I could still move forward and back my buddy got me to stop and we went about making a makeshift bridge with some rocks and a log we found..
    FB_IMG_1460395104888_f35db0126a5c89daf41b199793a954925c6e2f4a.jpg
Gave me a little tug and I was able to back up just enough to be able to carry some momentum into the hill.. basically I had to pin it and hope for the best.. managed to bump it up the log and get up though

Thanks... the issue most people have with the auto is the god awful fuel milage you get once you start to mod it, I would be one of those people who agree the 4cyl tacoma should have never come with an auto trans. But as long as you're enjoying it who cares... keep wheeling and exploring!!!

Lift, armor and such. Money pit, check out the build thread...
Nice, you'll love the Dakars. Need to do the shackle flip myself. Do you have extended rear brake lines yet?

Also, are you going to make it out to Rock therapy this year?
