It actually turns out the 96 and the 82 are the same footprint. The 96 is just taller. But Imma go cheap till the box comes off. The trailer is gonna get used and abused. Once the deck goes on the truck the box goes on the trailer

Shoved 30 beers, 15 Miller high Life and 15 Kokanee tall boys with tons of room to spare. Also held enough tacos to feed 10 ppl with room to spare.. this fridge is so much more efficient than the old style!! Can't wait to get to work on the slide.

Got the tent back on the truck but as usual everytime I take it off I loose a bunch of hardware. I've finally run out of t slot nuts gonna have to go to Fastenal and order some more with gr 8 bolts to match... Probably gonna run away this weekend for a quickie with the wife for our 1 year anniversary

Ok so started getting the truck ready for this year's trip. Started by removing the old platform as I'm not gonna use it anymore and make something low profile so it's easier for the pups.

So dirty... It's been a couple years since I've been able to properly clean
    IMG_20200624_171341_6ff8289376f53fe1a57dbf258956288e451db4c4.jpg

I found everything from old candies, a bag of chips and some Gatorade lol

Much easier to clean this way

Part of this is relocating the arb fridge power supply to the bed, which I'll hopefully get to sooner than later

I went with FIA protection series seat covers. I was hoping the grey would be a little more matchy match, but they're a great fit and stay tight to the seat so far. They even accommodate the fold flat passenger seat. I plan to get some mole panels for the back of the seat to add some storage.

Gave the ol girl a wash today, and took on a small project that's bugged me forever. Years ago I took a rock to the door just under the window, it chipped really bad and over time has rusted. So I broke out the ol' Dremel, took it down to metal, masked off the area and hit it with some tremclad.

It's not perfect, but it's much better than the rust spot!!

This is the OEM 4pin kit. Comes with literally everything, I scored it for 160 bucks shipped on Amazon. Installation is super easy cause it comes with instructions!! I also took the time to reroute the power for my fridge to the bed and did a stealth little install behind my flip up plate holder

Got the trailer home. It needs to be re-decked but luckily it came with a bunch of wood too. It's got tube tires and two piece rims on it, the rubber is shot so I'm gonna have to replace it. My thoughts for v1.0 is to put some 35s on it and patch up the deck. The OEM harness works great too so glad I went that route. I think I'm going to have to switch the hubs out. If that's the case I'll see if I can make some Toyota hubs work I have many ideas.

Also I wore the horns out on the Yaris. I've been without a horn for two weeks dealing with retards on the highway, there's been a few very close calls. I put some hella shaprtones on much more fu than the OEM horn.

    BC Pandemic Tour 2020

Ok so I'm back from this year's trip, and it wasn't without its own issues !! The first challenge was obviously covid, recently BC has been deemed fully open, so there are a ton of travellers, finding places to camp was a huge challenge, we wanted to be by alpine lakes and rivers because the temps in the central interior were pushing 40c. Add on some technical issues and a new setup and it made for some frustrating days.

To start off I wasn't ready to go, normally I'm very prepared and ready to rock this time I was loading right up until go time and then I forgot a bunch of shit because I was rushing. We started with 3 trucks, but Clayton and his 60 series bailed out 2 hrs into the first night because he roasted a wheel bearing. Unfortunately we were out of radio range and there was no cell service so he was forced to turn around.

    Huskies help loading

We rolled into our first stop just outside Headley above some abandoned mines around 1130. Luckily there was almost no one there and the people who were there were awake anyways. Crushed a couple beers and relaxed for an hour before heading to bed

    Day 2

We woke up to day trippers and early morning fly fisherman. We packed up camp and headed out in search of the French mines

We found some remnants from a spur of the mine. The whole mountain is hollow as they started mining here at the turn of the 20th century. The main mine shaft is so large and deep you can drive for hours inside. As shelf roads are the main construction method out here we never found the main shaft as it appeared to be washed out. We did find a shit ton of rattle snakes and some smaller shafts

From here we wandered towards ossoyoos and the endless wines and distillers that is nappa Valley of the north.

I also forgot to pack the pillows so I bought some in town. Heading out of town is a nasty 12% grade with 15 switchbacks and yes that is the main highway. This is where I first suspected my rad was plugged as I watched my temps steadily rise towards the warning level. However being so loaded down I wondered if it was just weight. That night we camped the failed ski resort of Pheonix

We had a good dinner and crushed some beers, we also wondered the old ski runs in the truck and found the old challet. We opted to camp by the lake which was a mistake, as some local woo boys were camped near by. Let's just say I let the flowmaster muffler sing at 5am

1990 HDJ81 with the 1hd-td and factory triple locked. This is by far the cleanest landed JDM cruiser I've seen in the last 10 years. It's only been here for a year an a half. It will become my wife daily driver/our family adventure mobile. It already has a 4" lift and 35" Yokohama geolanders. The Po added an intercooler and had the diesel tuned. It's not without its flaws, there are two dents on the hatch, and the power windows need some help(they're slow and get stuck) but it's a rust free rig and turbo diesel!!!!!!... We have a verbal agreement in place, but with covid I have to make an appointment to get a bank draft done up as for obvious reasons they won't do it digitally or over the phone. I will hopefully take possession of the truck by next weekend. Super excited for this it's been a long time coming.

    BC Trip 2020 continued

So we left the ski hill and headed on our way towards Castlegar. We stopped off and grabbed some snacks and wondered the town a bit. Poor Aaron got himself stuck under the steering wheel

It was a face melting 40 degrees celsius the AC was being worked overtime although I had to shut it down everytime we got onto a big hill. Out here all the hills are 12% or more grades.

We wondered along on our way to kaslo and one of my favorite camp spots along the way this happened

Cool little moment. We arrived at the lake only to find that the reservoir was super high, so all the beach camping was gone ... Every side road and camp site was full too. This was a reoccurring theme and it was getting on everyone's nerves. We finally found a spot hidden in the trees around 8pm we weren't happy with yet another long day of driving. The next day we got up early and headed for the fire tower I had searches for 5 years ago. Halfway up my temp gauge pegged itself in the red, clutch fan screaming away, stopping was impossible even in 4lo, the single track road with super tight switchback made that a non option. Luckily I found a wider switchback and was finally able to stop and let her cool. A quick beer brake and we took in the view

20 minutes later we made the final push up to tower. At 6800ft it really is the best view around

We had lunch and chatted up some locals who rode their quads up. The trip down the mountain was much better on the truck. We pushed on towards Nelson BC again took in the town and stopped at a couple breweries. Then onto the mining town of Sandon BC and the oldest continuously running hydro electric dam. The town has nearly been wiped out again by the snow melt and subsequent washout, so we had to skip the fire tower unfortunately. But the town itself was super cool

The dam was super cool. If you can imagine a tool or piece of equipment from the turn of the century it was here!!!!
