I just put the Tyger Tri Fold on my 2020 and I like it a lot.

Looks good. Mine held up great on a cross country move with no leaking.

Tyger tri fold from Amazon, $200. Went on easy. Not real confident with safety strap. Put in on this past weekend, no rain yet.

    What’s the safety strap for?

I guess if you’re driving with it folded up and the front latches give out the safety straps will hang onto the top until you pull over and fix it. You’ll know by the loud banging and other cars honking.

I'm on the fence in buying one of these either the roll up or tri fold. Do they flap and flutter a lot on the highway?

very slight flutter of the vinyl on the tri-fold but not enough to be distracting to me (but who's actually looking in their rearview ;) )

It flutters but it doesn’t make noise noticeable in the Cabin.

Very minor fluttering, not distracting for me. And I'm not sure on the trifold, but the roll up has some adjustment at the end so you can pull /loosen the latch as needed to get out slack. I'll typically adjust it once or twice a year as temps change (but I'm in the Midwest with cold winter)

Interesting, I remember reading that but I’ve never adjusted mine... never tried to roll it up at -40F either but still.

It's not a big deal, I only noticed when the touchless car washes started to force some water in the back in the winter which didn't happen in the summer. I'm guessing the material shrank slightly and kind of "pulled back" or lifted the end slightly. Loosened it up a bit and it seats properly again.

The roll-up one for a 2020, 5' bed is now out of stock on Amazon and has been for awhile. I wonder if there will be more.

Chinese product (just like everything else) so maybe in a few months (hopefully) when things slow down and supply chains pick back up. Who knows when it may actually be though.

For those on the fence, I have the Tyger rollup and while you can see it fluttering in the rear view mirror, you can't hear or feel it in the cab. And for those that want to carry bikes (or really anything in the bed with the Tyger rolled up), with a 5' bed the "roll" that is left is about the same diameter as the width of the front bed rail plus the gap between the bed and cab, so it basically exposes the entire bed opening with no rear view impact. In other words, effectively a completely open bed. To me that was the real value ... a tri-fold may look better, but takes away the usefulness of a pickup. At least 2 years old now, always parked outside, holding up great.

Have a MaxMate (Tyger) trifold from Amazon as well. The threads on the plastic latches aren't the most confidence inspiring and the rail inserts flex a little when tightened down since they're not machined to be a tight fit. So far no major leaks with zero added weather stripping, even with the 'major' rain we've been having recently in SoCal. Definitely worth every penny

Long story, but in a nutshell, when I used to have an ARE cap on my 3rd gen, it didn’t leak more than a few dribbles down the front, in torrential storms. I removed the cap for a while, and when I reinstalled it I used triple bulb seal instead of the flat foam tape that had been on there before, thinking it would hold up better and could be reused if I removed and reinstalled the cap again. I also used a little butyl tape to seal up some gaps. After that it leaked worse; not enough to be a real problem but annoying! Then I sold the cap, and installed the Tyger. Now it leaks exactly the same as it did with the cap, at the front right corner, so I don’t think it’s the Tyger leaking. Certainly no visible leaks through the Tyger material itself, or its seams or side Velcro.

I get no leaks anywhere from the cover itself. The only place you'll get some water coming in is from the front bed rail and some along the tailgate sides. This is pretty unavoidable with any type of cover or tonneau due to the bed design but can be sealed up if desired.

You're not going to get the 100% protection like you would an SUV.

thanks for the feedback. I am likely going to take off a camper too and go to the tonneau cover.
