Front end parts are still in the works for the 4X4 Swap.

But got a shell yesterday! Needs paint for sure, but I'm happy about it. Will be nice having the extra secured space on the regular cab.

Otwell welding and fabrication did an awesome job on my hoop. Time for paint soon!

Will be building a super cool low profile roof rack/basket over the whole shell and extending it halfway over the cab pretty soon.

Evolution of the front bumper. It is finished now! I am most likely going with a skid-row skid plate soon because my stock one is kinda trashed. Since I am bit armored up now, I am have finally decided to regear to 5.29s. Going with ARB air-locker in the rear. Will share the details of the onboard air setup in a couple weeks! I think she's finally ready for a proper beating!

Great looking little truck. Good call with the 5.29s. They really give the 3rz some much needed guts.

Thanks, Carter! I was torn between that and 4.88s. Wasn't till I drove 3rd gear (auto) at 2,800 RPM doing about 65/70mph with my 4.30s and 33s for a few hundred miles and had no notable difference in gas mileage and truck just felt like it was meant to drive in that range. I am sold on it!! Just going to work on saving up for the gearing and locker now.

Oh wow, didn’t realize it was an auto. 5.29s no doubt in that case.

Mmm... Parts! Skid Row Offroad Skid Plate arrived and put it on at midnight when I got home. My stock mud guard/skid was a bit tacoed from high centering and hitting rocks. This should do the trick. The weight of this skid inspires confidents to just send it up something now and not worry about my radiator.

CB and amp install came out pretty clean! Since the console is from a 4runner with the parking brake in it, I'm going to stick a HAM in there since it is an empty slot on a Tacoma.

Hahahaha I am catching up on throwing parts at her that I've had for a while and finally getting to do. I hope you've made progress on your tranny!

Recently did 1.25 Spidertrax spacers and I completely clear the frame at lock. It also put the wheels at a much better spot for tubbing the firewall when the time comes.
Did a 1" 4crawler body lift with poly bushings and the truck feels amazing and gave me better clearance for the tires.
Moved the rear axle back 3/4" centering the tires in the wells (less trimming to come).
Just rebuilt my coilovers and got my springrate dialed in at 550lb coils with 7.5wt oil. No more body roll and she rides amazing.

I have been keeping my eyes out for a used 5.29 gear-set but not feeling too optimistic. Soon though....soon...whatever happens.

The 2jz truck is about ready to roll out of the garage too. You'll probably see it at the next Fiesta Island meet. Someone also gave me a cool boat. So the projects are rolling strong.

damn man, you been busy. ill have to talk to you about the tub process after you do yours. im going to have to tub mine at some point.

my truck is still down. its going into a friend of my dads shop today, so i should get some answers by the end of the day. its looking like im going to end up buying and installing a remaned transmission. if the new trans fixes the problem im going to buy a core off ebay for a couple hundred bucks and turn it in the the first guy i payed for the rebuild to get my money back. im taking it to my dads friend to have him give it a once over before i pull the trigger on a reman trans.
