I’ve got a methanol setup in my truck and it will hold higher boost easier for longer periods of time. I used to be only able to reach 4 PSI at wide open throttle, with the methanol it’ll go all the way to 6 PSI.

What kind of boost do you usually get? On a really good day, it’ll hit 5 PSI without the methanol but only in ideal engine conditions. I’ve got a URD pulley, BTW.

It needs a tune, badly. It’s not very noticeable otherwise other than sipping gas all the livelong day.

That's a CLEAN setup you got in the posted pic! Thank you for sharing your setup as it definitely gives me a ballpark idea of where mine sits at.

So I just hooked by boost gauge up today and went for a drive around town to see what it tells me.

Boost does not come on until about half throttle (most likely because the bypass valve and I assume this is normal).
When I am floored and around 3-4k rpms I am making about 3lbs of boost with the low boost pulley.

    Methanol kit just arrived.
2.2" High Boost pulley on order.

I have LCE long tube headers and an intake on the way as well. I doubt they'll make much of a difference compared to putting on the high boost pulley and meth kit, but I am sure they'll help and just want to knock it all out at once.

Will keep you all posted with how this goes in a few weeks.

    Forgot to mention-

Truck "has oil" still in the transmission.

But that's because I just added three more quarts. LOL

Shot of current gauge pod setup...

    Thank you!

Can’t wait to see your setup buttoned up. The methanol and high post pulley definitely helps tons. But it’s nothing compared to a good tune to support it.

I've got a great one for you all-

Transmission seal blew!! Looks like...ah I forgot...the 6th time I'll be removing my trans?

Going to reach out to Trail Gear and see if they can source a seal for me. The one I am using got me as far as it did, but the seal had that plastic feel to it rather than a nice rubber feel. I am sure it was a durability issue. Heck, at least this time it got me on some adventures and all my random leaks are chased down and plugged up now.

Hey guys, looking for some feedback if possible.

Looking for a 32X53X7 rotary shaft oil seal for the transmission. I assume dual lip. Is there a specific brand or material type I should be looking at for my application?

I just ordered a set of new seals from these guy for my diamond axle seals. Super high quality, fitment, and all have been in stock.

Thanks for the feedback Greg. Ironically, the very seal I am currently using is from them. What I think may have happened this time is the seal spun inside the collar. The 53mm OD from them fits pretty slick. I tried a 54OD from them and it was too tight to get in.

The original seal with the ID that was too big fit snug in the collar. I had to tap it in with a socket. That's the kind of fitment I am going for. That being said, I ordered this off Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HCOKGHE?ie=UTF8 and am hoping it works out.

    -----

Also for everyone else- put the 2.2 high boost pulley on and ran around the block once. Don't have the methanol or the AFR gauge hooked up yet so I went easy, but it made around 9 pounds of boost and I stopped there. It definitely moved a bit faster!

This looks extremely promising, aaand it's Toyota! Seal does not feel as 'plastic-y' as the other one if that's the right way of saying it. It's more squishy/rubbery/thicker feeling around the seal as well. Another way to describe this is if I were to peel this seal back it would be a lot more elastic rather than just snap off rubber. Not that the other seal was dry rotted or anything, just a big difference I noticed and feels like the original one I had in the kit.

Fingers crossed for the.... Sixth time removing/splitting the trans?

    Seal #1 - ID 2mm too big.
Seal #2&3 - cheap and fell apart and OD wasn't a very tight fit (same brand).

All the other trans seperations were due to chasing leaks and trying to get the cases to seal.

It's technically my fault, but I still have a hard time seeing how all this happened beyond me.

Cool dude from NY sold me a good package deal on transmission, crawl box kit from Inchworm (which I later found out the universal adapter plate is a nightmare to work with as others have said), and transfer case.

Well, the shaft on my crawl box is 21 spline if I recall. The seal the guy had with the kit was for a 23 spline. The lips on the seal made the wrong fitment unnoticeable to me as it still had some resistance going on the shaft and I thought nothing of it.

Low and behold my first trip out....BOOM! Lol

One of the head guys at Yota1 performance gave me a tour of the projects in his shop last month. They had a 3rz turbo project he showed me. They pulled off the Supercharger (the one in your picture), and they had it on the ground like it was garbage.

He pointed to that and told me "that supercharger is garbage. Stay away from it if you want to do a 3rz project".

Lol it’s okay, but it’s not great either. Turbo is the way to go on these four cylinders. It’s a great bolt on no fuss option.

Jesus!!! I can't remember if I asked this before but is your input shaft the right diameter? Are the bearings inside the crawler good? Something is causing those seals to blow and I doubt it's the seal itself at this point.

Did you ask if they'll "pay it forward" and donate it to you since it's garbage to start with? I bet they wouldn't, lol

Okay guys, new seal has been in for a short bit and I've already put a few tanks of gas through her. All seems to be good. The wear on the old seal looked even, not focused on one spot. Bearings felt okay too. I think it was just cheap seal luck because the OEM seal I put in felt way more flexible and not like hard thin plastic that I was previously dealing with.

LCE long tube headers are running good and ended up with kind of a cool rumbly sound with that and the Borla Turbo XL muffler. Still a bit loud for my taste, but it's a little bit more quiet than the magnaflow 18. The magnaflow ended up being annoyingly loud to me after the packing broke in especially while in boost.

Supercharger with methanol injection has been doing GREAT. Very happy with the power now. It's not amazing, but it is spot on for what I was looking for with much better improved driving. Absolutely dying to see how this setup does offroad.

Need to set my AFR gauge up before I push it too hard. I can feel the timing retard every once in a while probably because of a ping during part throttle which I cannot hear. But I rarely notice this. Just needs some fine tuning is all probably.

Not sure if doing a new bigger fuel pump is necessary or not. Just want to keep the engine stuff as simple as possible... Don't want to deal with injectors, fuel pump, fuel pump regulator, etc if it's not necessary. It really runs pretty good right now as is and seems like if a bigger fuel pump was needed then it'd be apparent at wide open throttle.
