NLGI grade 2, lithium based. I say lithium because its what spicer recommends and probably what comes in the truck, only a guess. Choose one of them many.

I've tried the Spicer grease on my Tundra and now my Tacoma... both of them separate and spray out of the joints. It's way too thin, and Spicer will absolutely not put this grease to any testing standards to provide you with even the basic data any other company will give. I just don't trust it anymore at this point. The tubes of it I have at room temp have been separating just sitting on the shelves and the distributors I've talked to have gone and looked to tell me what they have is doing the same. When they called Spicer, they were told it's normal o_O and to just mix it back in carefully without creating any air bubbles:der:. WTH? I'm going to try using what Dana originally puts in these from now on instead (Chevron Ultra Duty Grease EP NLGI 2). It was staying in there without issue and held up to 10's of thousands of miles without being replaced.

I tell ya, I bought both of these 2016 trucks CPO. The Tundra had about 30,000 on it, and the Tacoma had 40,000... neither had seen a grease gun with maintenance records on both at the dealerships from day one (from two different dealerships). The zerks still had the factory paint over them and had to be peeled off. The original grease came out black as coal on both, but the joints have no play and I don't think they were harmed at all, but it's still pathetic that neither dealership is doing this as part of their maintenance and then they also sign off on a Certified Pre-Owned Warranty to boot. I started using the Spicer grease thinking you get what you pay for. Nope. You can clean the joint up spotless after putting that grease in and wipe the bottom of the vehicles off and within 100 miles you'll have a nice line of spray on the underside from the joints as it heats up and starts coming out. I just don't trust it at this point.

This is what I use. Have a tube of the red high temp stuff. Just bought some Red 'n' Tacky for leaf assembly though, the mystic is tackier.

I know that Lucas is good stuff. I use it on my four wheelers. Until the warranty runs out on these I'm going to stick to what was approved (even though the Spicer is among the two that would be under a warranty claim). Dana is good with it, but Toyota is the one that has to honor the warranty and the Chevron is only about $4 a tube. Just ordered a case of 10 for $38. I know a lot of farmers and the loggers around here swear by the Mystik brand as well for their equipment so it must be really good stuff as well, especially if it stands up to the abuse the logger's equipment gets put through. The only bad part about the Chevron grease that I've read is it is super thick and really hard to pump into the joints under cooler temps, but I guess I'll find out the hard way if that's true.

Definitely good stuff. One thing I noticed and this could speak volumes to the quality of Mystic is while using the red n tacky on the leafs, I found it really easy to clean off of my nitrils. The Mystic stuff, not so much, it always leaves a greasy layer on your gloves no matter how much you wipe. The red n tacky came off no problem with no residue. Take that as you will.

I think Ill use what I use for my tractor because its already loaded in the gun, and I would hate to waste the grease to change it out.

I use Red and Tacky like many above. Easy to find.

Now, recommend a good grease gun that works without mess.

I’d stick to a Lithium based NLGI #2.

I don’t know what you use in the tractor, but I wouldn’t use Moly if that’s what is currently in the gun.
