are all U-bolt flip kits created roughly equal? or is there a most recommended kit??
likely going with the yellow gm bumps, maybe an HD pack. I do tow firewood just under capacity few times a month in winter, and stock OR has been good but not great

I see a lot about rear blocks for 3rd gens, my tundra it was all shackles never blocks. Does it not matter as much with reduced payload/tow capacity of a taco? or just preference. my stockers are shot and looking for ~1inch in rear to mate with 5100s

Pretty much all U-bolt flip kits are the same. They're comprised of a thick steel plate and some round U-bolts... most people pick thier kit brand based on the bumpstops they want to run. For example, I bought the Durobump kit, because I wanted to run their bumpstops. Be sure whatever kit you buy is compatible with the GM bumps.

As for lifting the rear, a new leaf pack is recommended. I run Deavers, which typically gets top marks and praise. A lot of people have been happy with their Icon RXT's. Old Man Emu Dakars have a reputation of being noisy, but are an affordable option.

Add-a-leaf (AAL) is also a lift option. I had the Icon brand AAL and really liked them at first. However, they quickly flattened out and I replaced them with the Deavers.

Adding a block is an option, but I'd recommend nothing over 1". Blocks raise the leaf to axle offset and can/will increase axle wrap. Axle wrap is incredibly annoying and can get extreme with tall blocks.

As far as I know, there are no shackle replacements that increase lift. There are aftermarket shackles, usually paired with aftermarket hangers, but these are all about strength and less flex, and usually maintain close to original geometry.

    Good luck!

If I'm not running durobumps or superbumps these kits seem like a bunch of money for 2 u bolts and a plate with holes. The engineering goes into the progressive bumps. The mounting hardware seems pretty straight forward. Read a bunch on some CJ forums and it's time to just fabricate my own top plate compatible with the GM stops. Ubolts are cheap.
