I’ve also got the wheelers flip kit but I’m still confused. Is it 37 or 70-80? Lol

I’ve never actually checked mine since installing last Oct or so.
Just watched this last night and about shit my pants at what I could’ve been doing this whole time. I’ve been plagued by the squeaks and the creaks with my leaves that I’ve been picking my head trying to resolve it.

Literally on my “To-Do” list for this weekend!

It's most definitely not 37ft lbs, that has to be an error in the FSM that Wheelers copied onto their site. On 1st gens the FSM torque spec for u-bolts is 90 ft.lbs, I can't imagine your guys' trucks are any less than that.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
I went to 90 on my Dakars and the wheelers superbump flip. no issues.

I went with 37 on my first go. Good boys follow the rules books. I drove about 250 miles with a bit of good off-road thrown in. I'm lucky I didn't lose something. Several bolts were backed off significantly and the springs had come out of alignment.

Drooped the suspension, hammered the springs back straight, dropped it down and torqued to 82, same as my lug nuts. Drove 100 miles and retorqued with no noticable movement. Drove 1k more and rechecked. All is back to good.

Now I'll just check them whenever I touch the lug nuts. 82 is my one size fits all. Now how do I get my oil drain plug off...

The problem with this theory is that the lug nuts interface with the wheel is much broader than the interface of the round u-bolt onto a tube.

Round u bolts —-on an axle tube if you run a flip kit, different than:

Square u bolts which are factory and most if not all aftermarket still use the spring seat. In which the spring seat has more surface area under the axle tube and spreads the torque load.

    Thanks folks.

I've been getting some creaking and the rear end was slightly out of alignment when I got new tires this week. I don't see why Firestone would not check u-bolts if the rear is +.4 -.2 and the customer complains it's still drifting right. Seems like they would know to loosen and re-torque u-bolts to see if it straightens out. The nuts on both front u-bolts were barely more than hand tight. o_O Yikes. My bad for not having a deep 19mm socket.

So... I bought a shiny new socket, loosened all bolts and re-torqued. 75 is quite a few uggaduggas with a 80lb torque wrench.
And now I see I only needed 52. :militarypress:

Hopefully that solves the creaks and drift until I get Eibach springs and Icon leafs installed soon.

Torque is determined by thread pitch and bolt size. If you're using aftermarket ubolts, the oem spec might not be the same.
A good 'rule of thumb' is to torque ubolts the same as your lugs.
I have both cranked to 110#'s
