U-bolts fail on hill climb!

    What happens when the u-bolts fail on a hill climb? The rear axle becomes useless.
    In this video the passenger side u-bolts snap and the rear axle is useless. The driver tries to back up but as you can see the axle goes under the truck and breaks the driver side u-bolts.

    That would suck. I hate to see that.

    I’d change the ad to “As-is / Where-is” and charge extra for “a custom axle swap”.

    Then go home and cry. Because that is horrible.

    I assume they had to drag the truck down the hill to a road for a tow truck to haul away. While someone else hauled the axle, drive shafts and wheels in their truck.
    This probably damaged the rear bumper, fenders, bed, undercarriage and maybe fuel tank. In addition to the damage caused on the trail when the axle ripped out.

    Very expensive day.

    Torquing your U bolts prevents a lot of issues.
