Don't even bother trying to salvage them bro' , U bolts by the very nature of holding your axles to the rest of your truck & the constant torqueing left & right, up & down, back & forth transmitting power to your wheels suffer "Thread stretch" Even when they are obliviously tight & can't be avoided . Get a sawzall w/ good metal blade or cutting torch & make short work of those bad boys (don't cut thru the axle !!! lol) Sounds funny but once years ago I was at Alex's foreign auto dismantlers down by Brown field & watched this Mexican guy cut thru a Jag rear end trying to do just that, the owner fucking flipped out & rightfully so, a good jag axle from the 12 cyl. XKE used went for about $1200.00, so CUT & REPLACE Bro'......

Get the nuts nice and hot with one of those bottle propane torches the expansion and contraction will help break them free.

    And use new bolts.

I went thru all of this when I was doing my leaf springs. I had already bought the new U-Bolts and was working like hell to get the damn things off . I had a breaker bar on the ratchet and it easily took me 1.5 hours on one side.

Next side, I took the grinder to it, and you don't even need to grind all the way thru! Do it most of the way and then they will snap with a 1/2 turn with a breaker bar.
