Hey guys, I've had a 09 DCLB for a few months now and while crawling around underneath it today, I figured I'd ask a few questions!

    1. I was looking for the zerk fittings on the rear Driveline from the transfer case back, and noticed that the U-joints have the flush type fitting ( see below photo). I'm guessing these are not stock U-joints? I also attached a picture of the front Driveline U-joints, with the zerk fitting in the center. Which I believe are stock. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

    2. There are also grease nipples on the lower control arm bolts. Do they come from the factory like this?

    Thanks for all the help!

Pretty sure fittings on rear driveline and LCA bolts are not OEM.

I agree with the others the rear universal joints and the LCA are not stock items.

That's what I was thinking, thanks for the input. Have you guys ever seen a grease fitting on an aftermarket LCA bolt before?

This is the easiest way I have found to grease the flush type zerks. Un screw the fitting with a small flat head screw driver. Take the rubber nipple off the grease gun fitting and it threads right in to the hole where the zerk goes. Mess free.

The lower control arm cam bolt is most likely from the Moog "problem solver" line. They make this style for a bunch of different vehicles. Apparently not too recommended for our trucks if your lifted as they don't allow the same range of adjustment as oem. Seems like a good idea if your stock though. No personal experience with them however.

es. ha is he MOOG Problem Solver kit. There have been alot of people on here with issues, using that kit. Best would be to go back to OEM bolts and poly bushings.

The type of grease zerk that is on your rear driveshaft is greased with a needle point grease gun. Those type of zerks are typically used on chromolly U joints on solid axle front end axle U joints due to clearance issues. On a driveshaft, I guess the only logical reason to have it would be if you're a serious rock crawler and may bust off a zerk on a boulder. Personally, I would swap them out for normal zerks.

Here's various types of needle grease guns. The needle adapters work, but are kind of wobbly because they kind of bend at the coupling with the grease gun. Note that the needle type that spear through the ball joint boot are not the correct type.

That is how I grease them as well, I have the same u joint it came from NAPA. Tried to find a regular zero fitting and all threads were different.
Get the rubber tipped tool and screw it on as was posted above, only way I found to get grease in there.
