Hey guys, I am looking to see if anyone in this Georgia forum has experience replacing their u-joints? I have a vibrating when taking off and dealer is telling me it's either my u-joints or drive shaft needing to be re-balanced. Has anyone changed their u-joints themselves or is there anyone on here that does repairs? I am located in Cumming so somewhere within an hour drive would be an option. I also wanted to get input on possibly re-doing my lift. I have a 1.6" lift with Wheeler/Eibach coils / 3 Leaf Progressive AAL & Bilstein shocks all around. I now regret not going bigger and wanting to get input on best option to lift the truck again. Are the shocks the only parts I will probably be able to re-use?

Yep. But as a first time exercise, having an experienced person look over your shoulder isn't a bad plan.

Curious why? What function to gain by more lift? Or is it just a looks thing?

Things get a bit risky (and more expensive) over 2.5". Lots-o-bucks, and work, for 1"

Doraville Drive Lines & Springs did my u-joints and the u-joints on my son's 4Runner. The owner has the personality of a fish, but he does excellent work.

Mainly for looks. The truck was a daily driver when I originally ordered the smaller lift. It’s now my secondary vehicle for when I need a truck and wouldn’t mind going a little bigger.

I would get that vibration issue sorted before you increase your lift, lifts tend to make vibrations much worse the higher you go. Check your carrier bearing too, if the bushing or bearing is bad it'll vibrate the driveline

I can help and am located near Buford/Flowery Branch, so not a terrible drive from Cumming.

I did my u-joints and center support (commonly referred to incorrectly as the carrier bearing) bearing just a little bit ago. For another $70, I'd highly recommend doing that at the same time as the u-joints. Since you are 4x4, you will use the same part numbers that I did (if you want OEM).

    Center support bearing: Spicer 5002007
    U-joints: Spicer 5-1330-1X (qty: 3)

I think I paid $67 shipped (ebay) for the bearing and about $70 shipped (rockauto - has a 5% discount for TW members) for the u-joints.

How many miles on your truck? Keep in mind, this may or may not fix your issue. I had a small vibe that was fixed when I replaced the leaf springs. The OEM pack with AAL was the culprit there.
